The thing informing their awe is pretty cool. The god misapprehension is a free rider.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

A delusion under the impression of religious concept remains a delusion.

Consider a religious belief both that the environment can be harmed, and should not be harmed. I don't mean changed or modified, harmed in a morally important sense. That it is, thus, wrong to harm the environment as it is wrong to harm a person.
We might point out that the environment doesn't hurt. It doesn't experience the relevant pain or suffering to draw similar conclusions about the moral import of our relationship with it. We might even suggest that it's not wrong to do those things to the environment this person is concerned with, so long as it doesn't harm people. That there is no sacred tree, only a compromise between firewood and the loss of shade. We might think..in short, that they're wrong. But do we also contend that to believe this they must be delusional?
I mean, the tldr version is going to be that the vast majority of religious beliefs both real and hypothetical won't be or need be premised on gods, or on anything anyone would strenuously insist was delusional. It's a particularly sorry set of religions that relies on delusional thinking, irrational propositions, and godidits.

Surely, you know me well enough to already know my response to that malarkey.

The environment is a real existing thing. When someone is worried about an invisible, intangible tree then that's when you are dealing with a delusion.

Unless one is combining the supernatural with the environment, as pagans are wont to do, whereby the delusion still stands.

Agreed. Adding any imaginary property to a real item would be delusional.

Only the third statement would qualify as religious, and not because it has a spirit or an elder in it. No one wants to explore the idea that religion is, somehow, delusional, or must be?

How much exploration is needed beyond a transparent remark?

Plenty, I'd say. The golden rule is religious reciprocity. Does a person have to be delusional to believe it, is it informed by a delusion?
