We can disagree, but you don't have to call me a liar for pointing out what your suggestion would do, couldn't do, and isn't doing, lol.

I'm happy to disagree and I never said I was above reproach, but you know you put words in my mouth and that is dishonest.

BTW, you continued to pound my opinion from the angle of poor people when I explicitly stated that I did not advocate ending subsistence programs and recognized the need of such programs, not to mention I discussed the role of business in keeping poor people poor, so your assault on my position was about as inaccurate as it could be.  I even emphasized that the sector of the population that least needed the child subsidy is the middle and upper class.  So you can dance if you want to but you were most certainly attacking your own straw man.

As to who should get them or who needs them..well..simply put - the kids do. Even the middle class ones. I wouldn't personally care if the credits/subsidies/bribes didn't phase out at all. The amount going to the wealthy™ is and will be miniscule - because the wealthy are a miniscule percentage of our society to begin with.

Besides, they'll just be fatter for eating.

Better, Cheaper EV Batteries On The Horizon

But things are changing. In July of this year, it had developed sodium-ion battery cells with an energy density of 160 Wh/kg. The best lithium-ion cells can store 240 Wh/kg, but LFP cells are close to that 160 Wh/kg figure. CATL says it plans to get the energy density of its sodium batteries up to 200 Wh/kg by the time production begins in 2023. In August, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said it would prioritize the development, standardization, and commercialization of sodium-ion technology.

Lithium-sulfur batteries have an energy density of up to 600 Wh/kg — more than double the best available lithium-ion batteries. Imagine what that could mean. Cars with 800 miles of range or more would be possible. That’s good. But Li-S batteries tend to eat their electrodes. That’s bad.

Researchers at the Monash University in Melbourne, Australia think they have solved the problem by adding a tiny dose of sugar to the formula used to make the electrodes for Li-S batteries.
