I can get too wound up about turning instruments of war into something less insidious.
It's not as if it's impeding the USA's ability to project power wherever the fuck it wants to for good or ill.

It is a shame the ships are being scrapped. Would have been nice to turn them into floating museums. I remember back when I was 11, on a family trip to North Carolina coast, stopped in Wilmington where the U.S.S North Carolina, a battleship from WWII, was docked. For a small fee, you could go aboard and look around in a guided tour. I loved it because I am a history buff, and my father enjoyed it because he was an army vet that served in that war.
