5:15 AM, CDT. I'm brushing my cat on her perch at the window overlooking the driveway. I look up to see two cops standing in the driveway looking at the house. I wave and they walk up to the door, where I meet them.
"Sorry to bother you, but someone has reported you may be growing marijuana." "Huh?" (Yeah, I'm well known for my witty repartee.) "We can see grow lights from the driveway." "Oh! Come in!" Short story, I'm growing cat grass in my bathroom but you can't see that, only the weird colored light from the lamps. (I run them 24/7 make the grass mature faster.) Upshot of the early morning raid was that one cop took a picture of the cat grass box so he could order some for his cats. Just another drug raid in middle America. Gay ol' times
Seriously if today some magazine ran ads like that they would be considered gay and Christian groups would boycott the magazine sponsors and yet they were seen as perfectly 'straight' in the past - why?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
. . . gayer than any disco I ever set foot in . . .
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
