From your perspective, how does a conviction of Rittenhouse advance the state of race relations in America?

Who? Me? Not sure.

And surely something depends on which charges he is convicted of--and what the sentence is.

If he gets off scott free, then it looks like one more example of how violent armed white men are allowed much more leeway than black men, even unarmed ones. 

Unless that creates more impetus to revise existing open carry and self defense laws, then it will not advance race relations in the U.S.

--at least not in a progressive direction.

I'd add that when you live in a society where it's extremely difficult to ignore or downplay the inherent contempt built in to the system..even if you're as committed to that cause as good ole kyle was to his own, combined with the overt influence of white supremacy as an organizing principle in allegedly civil politics...

...it's not so much that the table has been tilted, as that the cloth has been ripped off scattering the contents all over the walls, the table flipped over, and the building it was in burnt to the ground.

That's one thing that always puzzled me about the structures we have in place. Shouldn't the threat of law be that there is no way to escape consequence...not even heroic martyrdom?
