What did you get for Christmas?

What did you get for Christmas?
I got some gift cards and used them to order a table to make quilt-making easier.

Spent an hour on the phone with middle child - that's a rare thing - and she sounded like she wasn't high for a change. Her rapid fire speech when she's on a binge is unnerving.

Also got a bit pissed off...but that's another story.

What goodies did you get this year?

Pissed off is better than pissed on. Unless, urine to that.

Present is ordered but hasn't landed yet - my daughter is getting me a print of "Reptiles," my favourite work by M.C. Escher.

Other than that, assorted cheap bling from the office (we had an Advent-calendar-style giveaway with various people contributing things like candy and dollar store stuff every day). I now have entirely too much hand sanitizer, and not nearly enough chocolate.

Took the wife to lunch on Sunday. After that she wanted to wander around the mall. Fortunately, the first store we hit was a Hallmark, which was having a 50% off sale on ornaments. I got a Snoopy with three of those little birds, wearing campaign hats. I wore a campaign hat when I volunteered for the BSA. She got a thing with Chip and Dale and a treadle style sewing machine. Now she has eight sewing machines. At least this one is tiny.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

And not pictured: the Penguin Hardcover Classics edition of Don Quixote because Dad accidentally got the Modern Library translation. The Penguin edition is in the mail and is apparently expected to arrive tomorrow.

My family hasn't opened gifts yet, and may not for 1-2 weeks. But I bought myself plenty of presents, including a new air fryer that will hold a full-size pizza, a TV for the kitchen so that I can watch sports while cooking, a sous vide cooker, two new watches, an enameled cast-iron Dutch oven, and an enameled cast-iron skillet, and a bunch of videogames. I still need to upgrade my video card, but that will have to wait as prices and availability are terrible this year.

My better half got me much-needed new pants, a matching shirt, nice socks, new shoes, and because I'm a big kid a collectible figurine.

Yes, I make full pew pew noises if the figure has a gun accessory.
