Russian consumers are also grappling with sharp price rises, especially for imported goods. -and all of that in the context of having stopped paying their debts long ago - and even having this state of perpetual but unenforceable bankruptcy codified into russia law.

Not The Whites. Those guys aren't at all interested in suffering even a tiny amount - and they aren't now nor have they ever been interested in participating in the war. They didn't support it because it would be hard, they supported the war because putin told them he'd send a bunch of east asians to ukraine on a 48hr smash and grab and they'd all be rich.

I just thought it was amusing that Zelensky would use "atheist" as an insult, given the fact that atheism is very important to some people's self-image on this forum.
Also here's a thing about the economy:

1. You think this is the first time someone's trotted out the word 'atheist' as an insult? Trust me on this; we're used to it.
2. I'm unlikely to trust ANY economic analysis from the Hoover Institute, particularly one from a man who isn't an economist.

Is Ukraine having a bad economy something that should influence me to support the Russian Federation, in your opinion?

Since when Putin's residence is not a valid military target?
Quote:A top Russian official on Monday issued personal threats against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after Russia claimed that Ukraine launched a drone attack on one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's official residences.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov alleged that Ukraine launched a drone attack on Putin's state residence in Novgorod region on the night of Dec. 29. Lavrov offered no evidence to support the assertion, which Zelenskyy was quick to dismiss as a Russian disinformation effort.
Dmitry Medvedev -- the former Russian president and prime minister now serving on the country's Security Council -- posted to X accusing Zelenskyy of "trying to derail the settlement of the conflict," referring to the ongoing U.S.-sponsored peace talks.
"He wants war. Well, now at least he'll have to stay in hiding for the rest of his worthless life," Medvedev wrote.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Just casting about for some absurd reason to blame ukraine for tanking the peace process they refuse to entertain. It's another one of those constraints as russia sees them. They can't mass mobilize, and they can't be seen as the recalcitrant aggressor they are.

No, that's certainly not a reason to support Russia.

Can you provide a positive reason to attack noncombatant civilians in support of this invasion? Is there any complaint Russia has that you can cite that would justify their atrocities at Bucha and elsewhere?

Zelensky says the war could end in 2026, noting that for the first time, Russia's army has stopped growing despite monthly mobilizations of 43,000. “If it continues, Putin will have to mobilize the population, and he doesn’t want that due to growing problems in Russian society,” Zelensky said.

Former NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer acknowledges that pushing for Ukraine to join NATO was a strategic error, and he regrets doing it.
It's possible that the former NATO Secretary General has better insight into these things than we do. Although of course he may be wrong.
