Russia and Ukraine
RE: Russia and Ukraine
Oh whatever could it be that convinced ukrainians they might want to be in nato? I just can't put my finger on it.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Belacqua couldn't even provide a video in English for his claims.

The truth is that General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer is all for arming Ukraine.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

It's possible that the former NATO Secretary General has better insight into these things than we do. Although of course he may be wrong.

Hey, I asked you a question:

Do you not have an answer? Or is your answer so callous that you'd get shit on your face?

@Thumpalumpacus

You've made it clear that we disagree on this topic.

And you've made it clear that you express disagreement through personal insults. But I don't do conversations with personal insults, so I'll have to sit this one out.

I'll continue to post links to articles I find helpful.

As I said before, let's give it six months or so and see what condition Ukraine is in then.

... and I'll continue to insult as I see fit, because supporting a cause that not only targets, not only murders, but indeed tortures civilians is execrable and you should be ashamed of doing so.

Keep posting your articles without responding to objections, great. Leaves the floor open to those of us who see you for what you are.

I notice you refused to answer my question.

Russians have lost half a million people to occupy almost nothing.

Russians controlled about 27% of Ukraine in the first months of the full scale war.

By the end of 2022, it was about 18%.

Now, after 3 more years of war, this percentage sits around 18-20%, including lands they occupied in 2014. They’re dying for nothing.

Exhaustively-researched article here from the NYTimes on war negotiations. America's approach sometimes seems chaotic and personality-driven.

Two things I hadn't known:

At one point Umerov drew a line on the map and indicated that Ukraine would be willing to give up about 20% of its territory.

And to no one's surprise, the CIA has been actively involved at least once in identifying and locating certain targets. This is more than proxy war stuff, this is a direct act of war.

According to official russian sources its closer to 1mio.
If you add all the recruiting numbers, factor in the starting size of the russian army as well as its current size (in Ukraine), there is about 1 million "missing".
