It’s not paranoia if they really are out to get you.

just because you are paranoid that does not mean they are not really out to get you.

He seems scared even of his advisors.

Maybe his advisors are scared of him.

there is a rumor that Russian ministers and head of government had a tradition of pranking eachother by sneaking ripe tomatoes on to the chair of the one who has bad news to report, just before the victim sits down.  so if the one reporting the news failed to notice, he would be waking around with giant tomato stain on the seat of his pants for the rest of the meeting.

rumor has it that started with joseph stalin.

I suspect either putin or all of his ministers had bad news to report.

Frankly, I have no troublie believing that these absurdly long tables are either an extremely backassward attempt at keeping COVID away or a means of intimidating anyone he has a one-on-one with. I've heard a lot of stories about how he's paranoid about COVID, but the use of a table like this is a long-established means of expressing dominance; one that very much suits his style.

Whatever his style might be, it's looking alot like empty suit shit.

With 8 years of planning, at a minimum - the russian army still manages to be ill equipped, undertrained, and unmotivated. The invasion of ukraine has been an abject failure on every conceivable level. Putin was either high on his own supply, or his facile yes men couldn't bring themselves to tell him how pathetic the state of his invasion force was in mere reality. Probably both.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Nitpicking aside, in all likelihood, the Russian army is good enough.     one does not need to exhibit customary signs of excellence to be good enough.

The 40 mile nose to tail truck convoy is probably an intentional expression of confidence abs contempt, because it shows the Russians have zero concern for NATO interference, which could have annihilated that column in a few minutes, and also none for the Ukraine drones attacks whose success have been so heavily trumpeted on social media present a concern for the Russians when such interference would have counted because just taking out a a few vehicles would have bogged down the entire column.
