Great, another American urging Ukrainians to be complicit in the dismemberment of their own nation.

Ignoring that it's a fundamentally shit plan, it's a shit plan on it's own grounds, since russia already demonstrated that it would not abide by any such agreement when it wiped it's ass with the minsk agreement before the ink could dry.

Ending the war by having Ukraine cede territory to Russia is morally equivalent to thanking a man for handing you a bandage after he stabs you.

Quote:KYIV, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Russian forces are likely to abandon their foothold on the west bank of Ukraine's Dnipro River, a Russian-installed occupation official said on Thursday, signalling a massive Russian retreat that, if confirmed, would be a major turning point in the war.
Ukrainian officials remained cautious about signs that Russia was abandoning the area, and there was silence from higher-ups in Moscow over the announcement of what would amount to one of Russia's most humiliating retreats since the invasion.
"Most likely our units, our soldiers, will leave for the left (eastern) bank," Kirill Stremousov, the Russian-installed deputy civilian administrator of the Kherson region, said in an interview with Solovyov Live, a pro-Kremlin online media outlet.
The area includes Kherson city, capital of the region of the same name, and the only major city Russia had captured intact since its invasion in February. It also includes one side of a huge dam across the Dnipro which controls the water supply to irrigate Crimea, the peninsula Russia has occupied since 2014.
[...]
Speculation swirled on Thursday over whether Russia was indeed pulling out, after photos circulated on the internet showing the main administrative building in Kherson city with Russia's flag no longer flying atop it.
Russia has fought for months to hang on to the pocket of land it holds on the west bank at the mouth of the river that bisects Ukraine. Moscow had sent tens of thousands of troops to reinforce the area, one of its biggest battlefield priorities.

I don't know how the Russians can stand all this victory.
On a serious note, if confirmed this is great news, as it will relieve pressure on Odessa and the grain shipments.

They've been looting the city for weeks. For those unschooled in russian gobbledygook, this is "preparing the city for urban combat". You know, gotta remove all the double pane insulated windows and ship them to a safe place until the battle is over. The toilets aren't nazis, why should they suffer? Then..there's the sweet...sweet washing machines. No washing machine left behind.

Because sometimes it's OK for a large country to dominate a smaller one and wreck its economy, the US continues to uphold economic sanctions on Cuba.
The UN votes against this regularly. This time only the US and Israel (that well-known beacon of human rights) voted in favor of the sanctions, with Brazil and Ukraine abstaining. Strange that Ukraine thinks it's OK for a larger country to dominate a small one. All other member states voted against.

Just in case the goals of the sanctions are unclear, here is the original document laying out their purpose.

The irony of a country (US) that would never cede telling another country to cede is quite apparent.

Emphasis on "hunger and desperation" added. I don't agree with America's policy with Cuba or Ukraine's support of it. Your whole argument however is a massive tu quoque. America's policy on Cuba in no way makes Russia's policies on Ukraine okay....
