   First of all there was a nice debate on France 24 yesterday. The US is not really “the main supporter” of Ukraine. European support to Ukraine is more Military gear and economy oriented, but when you include the UK, the European support in terms of cost is even superior to the US aid which is mostly in the form of weapons and military training.
  
   Second, people had predicted a year ago that countries like Poland, Slovakia and Hungary would keep supporting their eastern neighbor while Western Europe would get tired of it very quickly. In fact the opposite is happening. East-Europeans are currently turning neutral if not pro-Russian while older democracies, including Georgia Melloni’s Italy are growing even more decisive in terms of continuing their support to Ukraine.
 
   Finally, I think Ellon Musk’s Twitter Space X comment is not very logical comment mainly because of this: Most of us do not really know what war looks like. In our subconscious it’s something like some Hollywood movies and/or video games like “Call to duty”. For the greater part of us, you will need to go back a generation or two in order to have people who really understand what war really means. So I don’t blame Ellon Musk for saying what he said.
 
   Still: When there is an emergency, when lives are disappearing on a daily basis, a president will want to have the means to end that madness as soon as possible. So this guy may be headed to a point when he needs some sort of guidance or counseling. And I know that what I am going to say is very cliché but people with some sort of moral or philosophical conviction do that less often. Bill Gates was also this great “self-made millionaire” back in the 90’s but I don’t remember him saying or doing this sort of nonsense at any point.

Twice as many Ukrainians say they want Kyiv to keep fighting the war against Russia's invasion, rather than negotiate to end the war sooner, according to a Gallup poll published Monday.

The survey, conducted July 27–Aug. 3, shows 60 percent of Ukrainian residents said Ukraine should continue fighting until it wins the war, compared to 31 percent who said the country should seek to negotiate an ending to the war as soon as possible, and 7 percent who said they don't know.

The results represent a slight dip from support measured last year, in September 2022, when 70 percent said Ukraine should keep fighting, 26 percent said Ukraine should negotiate an end as soon as possible and 3 percent said they didn't know.

Still, Ukraine residents remain committed to the cause, which is critical as Ukraine continues its counteroffensive against Russia, nearly 20 months after Russia first rolled tanks across the border.

Support in the United States has also been declining across the political aisle, according to recent polls. An anti-Ukraine-aid faction of the GOP conference has also emerged in the House, posing a challenge to lawmakers as they work to approve new funding requests from President Biden to aid Ukraine.

Just the contrary. If the US doesn't help Ukraine now then it will have to help the whole of Europe when Putin attacks it after he conquers Ukraine which will be more expensive.
