Putin is said to be obsessed with magic and the occult. He is said to be asking the help of Mongolian Shamans to protect his armies in Ukraine.

That’s a very Hitler-like characteristic. Hitler too believed in the invincibility of his army because of his secret magic rituals and a mystical belief system according to which his Reich was meant to live for a 1000 years.
+ Some of the oligarchs of Putin are also obsessed with things like Haitian black magic rituals that are supposed to protect them in an environment in which none of them are actually truly safe and secure.

Not really, no. Himmler was a pagan mystic, but Hitler didn't practice any magic rituals or crap like that.

I suspect his asking shamans (of any kind) to cast spells on this or that has to do with how he intends to keep leaning on the hinterlands for cannon fodder. It costs him nothing. He's not going to give them better gear, or training, or support. Hell, they have trouble getting food and water.
Doesn't leave much except charms and cantrips, whether putin believes in them or not.

Trump taking another turn at fellati -- er, supporting Putin and his war aims.
Quote:Former President Donald Trump described Ukraine in bleak and mournful terms Wednesday, referring to its people as “dead” and the country itself as “demolished,” and further raising questions about how much the former president would be willing if elected again to concede in a negotiation over the country’s future.
Trump argued Ukraine should have made concessions to Russian President Vladimir Putin in the months before Russia’s February 2022 attack, declaring that even “the worst deal would’ve been better than what we have now.”
Trump, who has long been critical of U.S. aid to Ukraine, frequently claims that Russia never would have invaded if he was president and that he would put an end to the war if he returned to the White House. But rarely has he discussed the conflict in such detail.
[...]
Said Trump, “It’s something we have to have a quick discussion about because the president of Ukraine is in our country and he’s making little nasty aspersions toward your favorite president, me.”
Trump painted Ukraine as a country in ruins outside its capital, Kyiv, short on soldiers and losing population to war deaths and neighboring countries. He questioned whether the country has any bargaining chips left to negotiate an end to the war.
“Any deal — the worst deal — would’ve been better than what we have now,” Trump said. “If they made a bad deal it would’ve been much better. They would’ve given up a little bit and everybody would be living and every building would be built and every tower would be aging for another 2,000 years.”
“What deal can we make? It’s demolished,” he added. “The people are dead. The country is in rubble.”

If anyone but Trump said that, a normal human reaction would be, ‘Dude, you’re having a stroke. Stay calm, I’ll get help.’

I have an ingrained opposition to appeasement. Unlike Trump, and to paraphrase Ernesto Zapata, I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees. Trump's sort of defeatism marks him as unworthy of commanding our military power and foreign policy.
I think the normal human response to a massive invasion is fuck you, come and take it. I admire the staunchness of the Ukrainians and believe that we should support them in their defense of national determination.
It goes without saying that if Trump were having a stroke, I would not fetch any help. I'd walk away, whistling in the breeze.

You seem to know about this issues more than I do. While the issue of Hitler’s involvement on Mystical belief systems is largely debated among historians, many important Nazi figures are known to be deep into this kind of stuff:
https://www.historynet.com/obsessed-with-the-occult/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occultism_in_Nazism
I’m currently reading that this is another feature of people with megalomania or narcissistic personality types. They are said to like the idea of getting ahead of everyone else through diabolic / new type of technologies that will allow them to get ahead of everyone else. The obsession of Nazis with ancient religious artifacts portrayed in the Indiana Jones where thus far from being invented. So while this is an open debate, I believe that Hitler too was largely involved in this kind of stuff because it was a popular thing in that era. The 30’ was the golden age of many magical societies (In Europe and North America), all sort of parapsychological “research”, and famous mediums communicating with the dead. I just read that Nazis even tried to resurrect their dead pilots at some point.
Back to megalomania: The real aim 1798 Mediterranean campaign of Napoleon was to open the pyramids of Egypt and discover ancient technologies that would allow him to take over the entire planet. That’s why he took all sorts of scientists with him to study the mysteries of ancient Egypt. In the end he didn’t get his wonder weapons. But he still found things like the Rosetta stone and other important findings that contributed to modern Egyptology a lot.

There really is no debate about Hitler's beliefs. Rather than read wikipedia, read John Toland's two-volume biography, and/or Shirer's history of the Third Reich. It's true that at the end of his life he was looking to astrology for answers to how Germany might stave off defeat, but that was such a minor portion of his life that it pales in comparison to his monotheistic beliefs. Even the Kurlander article you link acknowledges that Nazis persecuted paranormalists to, and quotes Hitler as saying"
Quote:“National Socialism is a cool and highly reasoned approach to reality based on the greatest of scientific knowledge and its spiritual expression,” Hitler had declared in 1938. “This philosophy does not advocate mystic cults, but rather aims to cultivate and lead a nation determined by its blood.”
The idea that Nazis were based on magical thinking is a misapprehension, probably inserted into modern misinformation by the Indiana Jones movie. Sure, some were pagan mystics. They were by far in the minority.
I'd like to see reputable sources for your claims herein, especially the attempted use of magic to resurrect pilots. I've been studying this stuff for forty years and have seen no mention of that, even in Williamson Murray's works. Note that by "reputable" I mean writers and researchers with established track records in the history of the Third Reich more along the lines of Kurlander than wiki.
