- Today there was this meeting of European leaders with Vlodimir Zelensky. If you watched the news you have probably seen that most European Leaders see the issue of Ukraine as deeply tied to the future of Europe (In a time in which Ukrainian involvement was demonstrated in the sabotage of the Gazprom 2 pipeline).
 
Meanwhile The Trump administration + Elon Musk are doing stuff that keeps making everyone uneasy. If the US administration stops providing intel to Ukraine, If they insist on purchasing Russian diesel (which is illegal under international and US law) if Elon Musk slows down or blocks Ukrainian access to Starlink or Starshield systems, everything could change very quickly for Ukraine. And remember, for non-TV brainwashed Russians, Ukraine is still a sparkle of hope that reminds them that they too could have the right to live in a truly free country at some point.
 
So all of these right wing populist speeches who claim that (for instance) Ukraine is the problem of Ukrainians, not theirs should be taken with a grain of salt if you see what I mean

Ukraine gets the majority of its intel from Europe now.Meanwhile, Russia doesn’t have that diesel to deliver, Ukraine decides whether or not they can deliver whatever they do have, and it won’t make an ounce of difference to gas prices in the us. Just buys Russia a few more shaheed drones to slam into Ukrainian kindergartens.

I think you’re giving Russians too much credit. Ukraine isn’t a beacon of hope even to the non brainwashed. It’s the best paying job in Russia destroying it. That’s why people join. People who know the war is bullshit but somehow haven’t yet realized their pay is as well.

The trouble with people like putin, is that they can't handle the idea that the party is over for them. If it's over for them, they're gonna end it for everybody else. Putin, in his mind, will get what he wants in ukraine if he has to kill every last russian to get it. He's putting pretty good numbers on the board of late to that end.
