I've made a new video against low-carb diets

What does the evidence show?

I am unaware of any actual studies linking sesame seeds consumption to heart disease, like I am aware of the studies linking egg consumption to heart disease.

But... that... article... does not even mention methionine.

What do you mean? I mean, that article mentions that sesame seeds contain cholesterol-lowering substances, but it does not mention they contain lots of methionine. That article is therefore... what's the word I am looking for... biased, isn't it?

This is interesting (and appropriate): https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16611377/

Quote:Rats fed 3.5 g/kg or more of methionine had higher concentrations of cholesterol in their plasma,

I weigh about 100kg. This means I would need to consume 350g of sesame seeds on the regular to measurably increase my cholesterol. Since a sesame seed weighs on average, .004g, this translates to roughly 87 000 sesame seeds.

So, is it possible that eating these things raises cholesterol and increases the risk of heart disease? Yes. How many people are eating enough sesame seeds for it to be a legitimate risk? Probably none.

No. Why would you assume that? I’ll ask again: is there any evidence that shows sesame seeds cause heart disease?

And sesame seeds being high in methionine isn't strong mechanistic evidence that they cause heart disease?
