California law = Willful ignorance, legislated.

A school had to shut down it' s program of shooting clays - because of a law prohibiting advertising anything to do with guns or anmo.
This is stupidity akin to a plan to prevent teen pregancy by doing away with sex ed.

An science club is about getting kids interested in science.
A shooting club is about getting kids interested in guns and shooting.
Both are a form of advertising.
Is sex-ed a form of advertising for teen sex? Well, considering they try their best to scare the shit out of the kids with pregnancy, HIV, Herpes, etc., I think not.

I agree with you.
It' s a common thing among fundie xtians to raise shit about sex ed - because they think it teaches the kids how much fun it is to fuck..... Or something....

We find ourselves in agreement - this is a stupid fucking law. It means that people can’t advertise shooting safety courses, firearms maintenance courses, even general gun safety classes, if they’re targeted at minors. These all strike me as worthwhile enough that the state should be willing to foot the bill for advertising them rather than prohibiting it.

Boru I agree this isn't a good bill. Heck, it might even end up targeting anti-gun violence groups. Of course, one example of a bad law is just that.

I think the intent of the law is to prohibit marketing specific gun products to minors.
If the result is that gun clubs can't accept minors, or advertise safety courses, that would be bad. I did rifle shooting at age 9 to 14. It gave me a healthy respect for weapons, and I've never gone out and bought one, though I did become a good shot.

From the article:
Quote:The law specifically targets the advertising of “events where firearm-related products are sold or used,”
That’s insanely broad. If the law is enforced as worded, you could be fined $25k for posting a flyer telling people you’re going to hold a leather-working class on how to make gun holsters. Or that your shop is having a sale on gun safes.

Yeah, everyone you hate is out to turn your kids into one of them.
