I would support a " good judgement" test - if such a test could foresee all possible future scenarios.

Sadly - nobody has a working crystal ball.

...

I do support PAST behavior as a test of gun ownership.

Once you prove you are capable of being an idiot - you should be banned for life from guns...

Since you acknowledge that no testing will be able to identify all dumbasses, what objection -- if any -- do you have for mandating smart guns going forward?

I am so sick of their excuse, "Bad things will happen, so lets do nothing at all."

Them, "People run red lights so lets not have traffic lights at all." That is how fucked up their logic is.

It says a lot about our Moderators and their integrity and tolerance that they have not (yet) banned you.
Why would they ban me for disagreeing with someone?

It's more than that -- you sometimes come across as an obnoxious, insincere sidekick.

Well I can't help that. But I really do think everyone should be armed.

One thing I love to do to the worshipers is to act like I am clinically insane, then I ask them if I should be allowed to own a firearm. Of course they say "No, you should not be allowed". Then I remind them that I have no criminal record and could go out and buy a firearm legally right now.

‘Act’?

-Enforce the 2nd Amendment from an originalist viewpoint.

-Allow private ownership of firearms only after initial safety/proficiency training of six months.

-Allow private ownership of firearms only after a background check, psychological screening, and affidavits from at least three people that the applicant is a person of good character.

-All firearms licenses to be reviewed every second year, and revocable for 1) felonies committed in the interim 2) failure to obtain ongoing safety/proficiency training, or 3) failure to pass a psychological screening.

-Make transporting a loaded firearm a felony.

-Make failure to properly secure a firearm a felony.

-Phasers, Klingon disruptor pistols and Kill-O-Zap blasters are exempt from all of the above.

Several reasons.

1. I can' t see forcing people to rely on vaporware.
" smart guns" that can discriminate a legitimate
firearm user do not exist - on a high enough.                    reliability. When you see police and military being issued such weapons then it will be a different story.

2. Anything built in can be built out. Criminals and people with bad intent are always going to be able to do a work- around. As usual the gun legislation only affects the law abiding citizen - who is not the problem in the first place.

3. There are already more guns than people - in the USA. Anyone who wants a gun for ill intent will have no problem buying a "dumb gun". All you are doing is adding an unnecessary expense to new guns.

4. Many mass shooters bought firearms legally - shortly prior to the shooting. How would " smart gun" technology stop ANYONE from using a gun illegally if it is purchased for that purpose???

Originalist view?

Uh... It is debateable what that is.

The 2008 SCOTUS ruling says that your view is incorrect.

The ‘well regulated militia’ bit is pretty clear.

Fuck SCOTUS.
