What are you reading?
RE: What are you reading?
Decided to not worry about Libby, because it's tied up in that nonsense licensing where they're only allowed to distribute one digital copy at a time.

Like Christopher Lee, I re-read LOTR once a year. I don't know if Lee did this, but I always start on 22 September.

I met a woman a long time ago who did the same thing while I was reading it for the first time. She reread it every year. I've tried rereading it, I've got the physical copies in a drawer, but I've never been able to follow through.

Yeah, it’s popular, it’s just not for everyone. Kind of like Stephen King in that sense. I’ve only ever made it through one of his books.

I've always found Saruman to be a prime example of FAFO.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I haven't done Audible books most of this year. Amazon has a budget pair of decent JBL headphones on sale, and I had plenty of Amazon credit, so I ordered a pair, thinking I'd see if headphones and errands could become a regular habit. I've got plenty of books on Audible that I certainly don't need any. However, Chirp has bundles of nonfiction books on sale right now. The sale ends in a few days, so I've got time to ponder their offerings.
