The Absurd GOP

RE: The Absurd GOP
First, they came for the frogs..and I said nothing.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I know that there's a lot of problems with the Espionage Act of 1917, especially in how it's often used not for spies, but for whistleblowers looking to expose wrongdoing in the US government. That said, Trump has a history of disclosing classified information to Putin, so it looks like the government is well within its rights to use the Act against him, especially if there's any evidence that the classified information in question could have gone to Russia.

We were warned by 50 former Republican intel agents, during the former guy's first campaign, that we as Americans should not elect him because of the national security risk they knew he would pose. And it is highly likely the result we are seeing now.

Ron DeSantis replaced elected attorney with one bringing back “Biking while Black” policy
LGBTQ Nation

Quote:The bike stop law allowed police officers to stop and ticket cyclists for violating safety rules, including taking their hands off the handlebars. The was the subject of a 2016 Department of Justice investigation that found that 75% of bicyclists stopped under the law in Tampa were Black, while only about 23% of the city’s population is Black, according to the Census Bureau.

“This is a racist policy that was created to perpetuate systemic racism within our community,” NAACP-Hillsborough President Yvette Lewis told Fox 13.

“It was so egregious that it held a lot of people back in the African American community,” she continued. “Tickets were stacking up upon that person and then, if they tried to get their license, they couldn’t get their license.”

Fox host outraged that school district pulled the Bible from shelves in book challenge
LGBTQ Nation

Quote:Fox News hosts have expressed outrage over the Bible being removed from school library shelves in a Texas school district, claiming that the book should be allowed, even though it contains stories of incest and violence and promotes slavery, the subjugation of women, and the murder of LGBTQ people.

The Fox News panel also said that banning the Bible from schools furthers a Democratic plot, even though the school district’s home county traditionally votes Republican.

The Christian religious text was removed by the Keller Independent School District’s Book Challenge Committee this week because it was challenged for having “sexual content and violence” along with 40 other books, most of which featured Black and LGBTQ characters. The district’s school principals were told to keep the books off of library shelves until the district has completed its review of each book’s appropriateness for student readers.

The four female and one male hosts on Fox News’ talk show Outnumbered expressed outrage over the book’s removal.

A Republican group in Alabama is apologizing after accidentally using a picture of the GOP elephant that contained Ku Klux Klan imagery.

The Lawrence County Republican Party intended to post an image of the GOP elephant on its Facebook page, but ended up using one in which the white spaces between the animal’s legs were drawn to resemble hooded Klansmen.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
