A gun nutter will rely on the argument that banning guns just means people will still own them illegally, yet unreasonably support a war on drugs.

Not if they have any sense they won't.  The war on drugs has also been a failure for the most part.  If anything it creates a black market for drugs, and prevents users from seeking treatment options for fear they'll be arrested in the process and if they have kids that they'll be taken away by CPS.

People can ban things all they want, but users who want them will find a way to get them.  Banning them also just makes criminals out of the law abiding too.  We don't want to be criminals and would prefer not to be forced to be them by default.

My line for years and years.  I..ofc...support gun control...but I do recognize that some (proposed, hoped for, fever dreamed about) gun control measures would make me a criminal by default.  So be it.  I'm not going to go out in a blaze of glory over it - because that's retarded, but if tyrannical atf agents™ show up looking for my guns..Imma have a hilarious day..my first day as a felon... watching them fail to find them.

Tim Burchett, the congressman who appeared on Ancient Aliens to claim the Bible is full of flying saucers, will lead the House investigation into David Grusch's claim that the U.S. is hiding crashed alien spaceships.

The House of Representatives plans to investigate claims that the US government is harboring UFOs after a whistleblower former intelligence official said the US has possession of “intact and partially intact” alien vehicles.

James Comer, the Republican chair of the House oversight committee, said the committee would hold a hearing into claims by David Grusch, who led analysis of unexplained anomalous phenomena (UAP) within a US Department of Defense agency, that the government had been collecting non-human craft for “decades”.

The timing of the hearing is not yet determined, but a source familiar with the matter said a date is expected to be announced in the next few weeks. Tim Burchett and Anna Paulina Luna, Republican members of Congress from Florida and Tennessee, respectively, will lead the oversight committee investigation.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) raised eyebrows with a claim she made during a TV interview on Thursday evening. 
Greene said she read a document inside a SCIF ― a sensitive compartmented information facility ― related to bribery allegations Republicans have made against President Joe Biden but have yet to provide evidence for.
Then, she described that document while speaking to Laura Ingraham on Fox News: 

And usually, information revealed in the SCIF can’t be repeated outside of it. 


But Greene ―a conspiracy theorist and close ally of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) who has called for a “national divorce” and spoke last year at a white nationalist event ― said she copied as much as she could once she left the SCIF. 

“This is a document that all of America should be able to see, but the FBI is stonewalling us and they would only let us see it in a SCIF,” she said. “Well what I did after reading the document is I made notes when I walked out and I went up to the table.”

She held up those notes to the camera.

“I wrote down everything that I had just read so that I could come out and tell the American people what I read,” she said.

Congress critters seem to be able to get away with it. It was a complaint of mine in the AF that we would see congresspeople spill on life TV what we would have been court martialed for revealing in a private letter.

What's even more pathetic and sad is railing about someone doing exactly what you do and demand they be punished for it. You know, like pastors who spend a shocking amount of time equating homosexuality with paedophilia, only to later get caught with their hand in the kiddie jar.
