What an ass you are.

Actually, you raise a fair point.

In saying "you people," I suppose I was referring to atheists in general initially, because the vast majority I've run into on here are simple vile people. I didn't really think about it. But now that I've had time to reflect, I believe I was referring to people like you, who are so thoroughly dismissive (on a forum purposed for debate, no less) of anyone who doesn't say what they want to hear that they think they can just act the fool without consequence.

I assure you, there are consequences for every action we take in this life, and there will be consequences for shooting your mouth off on this forum. It may not come in a way you expect or can even see as related to your offense, but it'll come, and that goes for anyone who behaves as you have. The Lord sees all and prescribes punishment in due time.

And the witch doctor, predictably, shakes his scary magic stick at her.

You are an ass. Anytime you treat individuals who may not reflect the norms of a group as undifferentiated members of a group you are stereotyping. When you do so unfairly or inaccurately, it's bigotry.

How's the view from atop that high horse?

Think on this, padawan: Atheism needs no such excuses.  Science needs no such excuses.  Philosophy needs no such excuses.  Anywhere actual truth and knowledge are to be found, no excuses.

Religion?  Filled with excuses.

It may be a variant as you say, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. And it isn't an excuse, it's a truth that is very well-founded in Scripture, which is obvious by my post.

Atheism doesn't "need such excuses" because atheism has no purpose other than to discount theism. Science isn't even a philosophy, it's an activity by definition, and philosophy is such a generic term that it simply has no relevance to your argument. In other words, you're just sharing a bunch of meaningless garbage.

If you think I'm full of excuses concerning Christianity, you're sadly mistaken.

This is what's known as an ad hoc argument, and it is basically synonymous with making up excuses to fit your desired conclusion. Such arguments are also considered fallacious and invalid.

False. I haven't sought your god at all. I see it as a fictional character, and not even a particularly engaging fictional character. In short, your god does not interest me and IMO is not worth pursuing.

Aint yer daddy, son.

Quote:Your question is a bit tricky. There are many people who proclaim themselves to be Christians, for one, who absolutely are not (most of them, in fact). Their hearts have indeed deceived them.
Them™ but certainly not you?

Quote:And who can say who is a true Christian? I can say there are those I believe are Christian, but are they? And how about myself? Maybe my own heart deceives me. I have to at least acknowledge that possibility, yes.
Good question..but it seems like you think you can say that, you just did.

Quote:The problem here is that people like you seek absolute, incontrovertible proof and certainty. That's not what faith is about, not how the Lord designed its purpose. God is Spirit; He is the Word, that is, He isn't defined by the tangible, but by the intangible element of His character, His righteousness. That is why faith is necessary.
I live in a world chock full of intangibles.  The intangible is not a problem for me

Quote:And really, faith has very little to do with the existence of God. His existence is obvious to those whom He hasn't deliberately blinded. Faith is about believing in His righteousness and walking by it, by the intangible, despite the tangible fighting us much of the time.
Well..if your silly god has deliberately blinded people then it would seem silly for you to call them foolish for only seeing what god has magically ordained they see.

But back to deceitful hearts.  Do you believe that's true..not just of Them™..or of atheists..but true, in general? Is it true of you? Can you give an example from your own life, your own heart?

You're going to have to explain how that is what I've done, because I don't see it. And given how you've completely ignored the extreme problems with your previous posts, I don't think it's out of the question to demand that before I engage you any further.

Interesting, then, that you're on a forum arguing against His existence. "Methinks the lady doth protest too much." True of all atheists on here, I imagine.

Challenge accepted. Your silly god exists, and is a garbage fire that no decent human being would ever bow to. Can you think of anything that your deceitful human heart might have done that lead you to believe otherwise?
