From a Keynesian POV, the spending in Ukraine is probably driving up inflation, and so, we are likely losing money.

That article says 17.6 billion. How is that ‘much more’?

Why indeed. So, no math? I feel like I'm wasting a good punchline here, but I'm pretty confident that you could pull a number directly out of your ass for no reason other than thinking it sounds super huge...and it will still be lower than the amount we currently spend trying to contain russia and china. Oh well.

A lot of non-military spending has also taken place, probably, another 20 to 30 billion.

Such is probably impossible to calculate. "Too many dollars chasing too few goods" is the usual explanation, but, yes, during periods of war spending, inflation does occur. And, so, the United States is "not making money" off the war in Ukraine.

Okay, so lets call it 37 billion. Twice as many 1000ths of the yearly defense budget, spread out over a decade or so.
How much do you think we spend trying to contain russia and china? How much do you think we stand to lose or gain by failing or succeeding at those tasks? Proxy war style.
