Yes, it is your assertion and it's naive and foolish

Um, what fallacy would that be? The Denying Scientific Evidence fallacy?

For some reason, I keep reading this thread title as, ‘The Voluntary Human Erection Movement’.

That is all.

That's probably better than "The Voluntary Human Excretion Movement."

More fun, at least.

Why? Average Earth's temperature was 6 degrees Celsius higher for the last 500 million years. Mammals and other species thrived during one of the hottest periods in Earth's history. Some scientists argue that global warming will be net beneficial to the Global North.

why only look at the last 500 million years?   you realize during almost half of earth’s history,  Oxygen was very nearly absolutely missing from earth’s atmophere,  to the extent that there is upper limit of no more than few kg of free molecular oxygen entire earth’s  atmophere, judging by the fact that there are minerals from that era that could not have formed if there was more than a few molecule of oxygen in each kilogram of air.   During 4/5 of the rest of earth’s history, there were no more oxygen in the earth’s atmophere than just a few percent of present oxygen content of tge atmophere.

yet life on earth prospered just fine during.   so do you propose we should do nothing about it if our activities are eliminating oxygen from the atmophere?

If anyone balks at my argument that it's probably more reasonable to just expect the human race to go extinct than to try and fix global warming, just look at our Russian Bot friend in this thread and remember that there's a lot of politicians who take the same attitude towards climate change that he does. And the window of time where we can actually mitigate its effects is running out while they're refusing to allow us to take the level of action necessary to do so.

We're more likely to come up with workarounds for the mess we've caused than clean it up. Ever was it thus.

I'd say to imagine the absurdity of living in a world where other people get to refuse to allow us to do such a thing..but....we don't have to imagine it, do we, lol. Building codes are my favorite example. In theory, a great idea that could be used to build a more resilient future. In practice, they largely fail to protect the occupants, locking builders in to dangerous and costly levels of risk, wile protecting and boosting specific industries' products. This is according to FEMA, mind you, whose hands are as dirty or dirtier than anyone's with respect to why our buildings are not well suited to the current environment, let alone the expected future risks. This was a part of their rationale for pulling back flood subsidies and corporate bailouts that should have never existed in the first place, for example, which drove building trends and product selection....all backed by their intentionally frozen stats. Their preferred solution is decidedly -not- climate facing now, but once again product and industry facing. Just a new set of beneficiaries.

In a nutshell, our building practices have palpably created the risk, not just in their shoddy nature but in that the construction of the materials and the maintenance of the structures is a major driver for climate change. The solution..not to stop doing that. To do it harder, with even more destructive materials, so that our buildings can withstand the more destructive events that their creation and existence causes. The workaround, lol.

Underground. Humans will simply live underground. In climate-controlled shopping malls. And they'll look fabulous.
