Why do you prefer serial killers?

There are serial killers living among us who choose their targets without any logical reason. Even though it is highly unlikely, you can be one of their victims. Now imagine yourself sitting on a serial killer’s chair, tightly bound and crying not from fear or hopelessness but from excruciating pain. There is really nothing to stop him except watching him parting you piece by piece in unbearable pain.

As a Muslim, I wonder something. God sent hundreds of prophets over thousands of years, from Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus to Mohammad. They were all kind, nice, and reliable people who said “We don’t want anything from you; our rewards belong to God.” They all had the same message which you already know very well. However, you didn’t care about them; instead, you hated them, mocked them, and even killed some of them.

On the other hand, now you are in a chair waiting for death, bound and helpless, you pray to God to save your life.

The question is: while hundreds of nice and kind prophets of God could not make you believe in Him, how come a serial killer can open your blind eyes and let you see him? In fact, all this time, you were denying the existence of God just because you couldn’t see Him.

Hilarious, god always needs a middleman, serpent, burning bush or a donkey

god would have a front row seat of you snuff porn scenario. Watching everything so it knows who to punish after they die.. right?

Please provide demonstrable and falsifiable evidence that a god exists, and that any of the people you menti9ned were 'prophets'. And no, an ancient text is not evidence.

I have been close to drowning while surfing large waves on several occasions. Not once did I ever call out to any god. I was saved by my own skills and training.

I had my appendix burst while camping in far Northern California. My friends got me to the closest hospital barely alive. I was in the hospital for weeks, touch and go for a while. Completely aware of my ongoing close call with death. Again, not a single time did I ever call out to any god, or even think about doing so. I was saved by modern medical science, and the doctor's and nurse's, and the rest of the hospital staff's skills.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

You'll have to ask your coreligionists why you keep killing each others and shamans and witchdoctors.  You might wanna talk to your god about all those serial killers.

This business about a serial killer, though.  Are you telling us that's the kind of thing that would make you believe in god, if you didn't already?  Being bound and gagged.  Sobbing, probably tortured or at least severely beaten.  I imagine there's more than one reaction to that situation - but we probably won't ever get much good data on it, what with how people in those situations often don't live to talk about it?  I would suppose that alot of people in that situation..and even less extreme encounters with death, probably do die wishing someone would come and save them.

Results may vary.....

I think, though, you should run this thought experiment in the reverse. I've been sent no prophets, and I'd rate yours no higher than lunatics if they aren't pure fiction - that's true. But I do see you killing each other, and all of the killing in the world in general. God built a meatgrinder, it's followers built a death cult, apparently. Do you kill each others wizards and worship death because you prefer serial killers?

Are you suggesting that your psychopathic god threatening you with eternal torture is what solicited your piety?

Adam: entirely fictional.

Noah. A drunk who built a boat and sailed away as millions died. Also, entirely fictional.

Abraham: tried to murder his son because voices told him too. Also, probably entirely fictional.

Moses: After watching his deity slaughter thousands of innocents, took 40 years to lead people across the Sinai. A trip that can be done in a few weeks. Also, entirely fictional.

Jesus,: Said you couldn't be his follower if you didn't hate your family. Also, probably entirely fictional.

Uncle Mo: Spread his religion by conquest and slaughter. Also, far too real and a bloodthirsty warlord.
Dying to live, living to die.

Why is there a serious tag. Nothing about the op or his inane rambling should be taken seriously.

Thoughts and prayers Kloro.

Well, this is just more religionista appeal to fear, firstly. And second, who says that anyone might change their opinion on the existence of god(s) under torture? What if they just say what they think the torturer wants to hear, which is, after all, one of the issues of information collected under duress?

Your premises need support. Maybe you should provide that first.

Why would I pray to something that I don't think is there?

And why are you so obsessed with torture?  Is this something that regularly haunts your thoughts?  If so, I strongly recommend a psychiatric consultation.
