My Life As A Republican
#11
RE: My Life As A Republican
I was a Republican and a Social Democrat at the same time. When I abandoned Republicanism, I went from being a Social Democrat to being a social democrat (Loyalism has never been part of the picture).

I currently tend to split my votes between Labour and Te Pati Māori.

I was apolitical until 2018, when I became a center-left Democrat.

I was. Gave up on when I finally admitted to myself that it was a lost cause (at least in my lifetime).

What made you think it was a lost cause?

No, he could just be a malevolent, misanthropic, misogynous, gutless, conceited, faithless, ignorant, poltroon of an asshole feeling the urge to mate with his own kind.

What made you think it was a lost cause?

The fact that a whopping great majority of the population are Unionists, the fact that devolved governments are a joke, and the fact the UK will never, ever let its last bit of empire go.

But it wasn't for any moralistic reason?

I was a solid GOP voter until after 2008, I believed the bullshit about them being the party of fiscal responsibility, small government, and personal responsibility. Once you're outside the bubble, it's laughable how transparently evident the bullshit is.

Don't get me wrong, I have no great love for the Democratic party either.

Of course not. In my younger days, I threw rocks at Protestants for practical, not moral, reasons.

What a stupid question.
