Sexual Abuse in Social Context: Clergy and other (Secular) Professionals.

RE: Sexual Abuse in Social Context: Clergy and other (Secular) Professionals.
Just them, and everyone who knew about it and helped them evade justice and went after the victims and covered it up. Your religion is horrible, but your church is even worse. Here you are to hammer that point home with every post.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Look Scooter. I was a Catholic before you were even alive. Catholic schools, altar boys, nuns, priests, brothers...the whole nine. Went to mass in a Basilica for quite a while. The Church you think so highly of has been moving pedophile and/or drunken priests around for centuries. And it's not slowing down.

But you look away from what's been going on and what continues and lie to yourself that it's overstated.

And, and...if you can still get into heaven after sexually abusing kids by saying you sure are sorry....that's not where I want to be.

Respectfully disagree, arewethereyet. Not questioning your experience, and if you did experience any child abusing Priests, then I am sorry. But my experience has been different: I must know about 100 Priests, along with dozens of Nuns, and I am very sure no statistically significant percentage of Priests or Nuns are abusers. I don't know a single one who is or was. I do know one Priest who was into drunkenness, yes; but thats a personal vice, not a crime. Some parishioners counselled him about it, which is good on their part, and he tried to stop. After that, I left that Parish, as I had to move around for work etc, so I don't know what happened. But clearly not a crime in any case.

Also, that's not how Repentance works in traditional Catholic understanding: its not just saying sorry. Thats why theres a Purgatory. Firstly one has to repent from a contrite heart and hate and detest the sin with all one's heart; and then seriously promise and really intend never to repeat it; that just to avoid Hell. Then, as early Church Canonical Disciplines show, 10 to 15 years of Penance would have to be undergone for one such grave sin. If not done in this life, like in a Penitentiary etc, then those years have to be fulfilled in Purgatory. More should be done to root it out and reduce the %age as far as possible, across all sections of society, but Catholic Teaching certainly isn't responsible.

My position still stands. If child molesters can get into Heaven, they and the other POS people can have it.

Unrepentant child abusers cannot in fact get to Heaven. They go to Hell to be punished for each child they abused, forever and ever and ever. That's the Perfect Justice of a Holy God.

And, edited the above post: silly autocorrect. The second was repeat, not repent. One must intend never to repeat the crime. One must repent of it with one's whole heart. That's Contrition.

Apparently, if the pope died today, he'd have a few thousand years in purgatory before he got to see the pearlies.

Talk about whataboutism, but I did not expect anything honest from you.

The question is why does Catholic Church ignore sexual predator priests and lets them rape?

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

@Nishant Xavier

Quote:Finally, in the authoritative work by Penn State professor Philip Jenkins, Pedophiles and Priests, it was determined that between .2 and 1.7 percent of priests are pedophiles. The figure among the Protestant clergy ranges between 2 and 3 percent.

That’s very interesting. I can’t help but wonder how those figures were arrived at - how does a church determine who is a kiddie fucker and who isn’t? I can’t image that priests and ministers are likely to voluntarily admit that they’re paedophiles. I know a bit about the ordination process, and neither priests nor Protestant pastors are required to undergo psych evaluations that would reveal paedophilia. If a cleric is accused and cleared of such charges, he wouldn’t be included in the statistic.

It seems the only way to determine if a cleric has raped a minor is if they are accused, charged, tried, and convicted of the offense. Based on the numbers you quoted, it looks as though Protestant denominations are 2 to 10 times better at catching kiddie fuckers than the Catholic Church.

Your people just…awful.

“You either have a God who sends child rapists to rape children or you have a God who simply watches it and says, ‘When you’re done, I’m going to punish you.’If I could stop a person from raping a child, I would. That’s the difference between me and your God.”
