Ok we just watched the Tories die on this hill, Labour announced the end of the Rwanda plan, and then decided to set out how they're going to control immigration...

It’s a very different hill, actually. The Border Command scheme seeks to target human traffickers, while the Tories’ Rwanda Plan (which laughingly called Rwanda ‘a safe country’) would have deported whoever the UK deemed an illegal immigrant or an asylum seeker.

It's still focusing on the far right dog whistle, effectively handing airtime and credibility to Farage and and his associated bigots.

As though Biden's Decline somehow overshadows the idiocy that is orange.

Biden was just joking during the debate, he was being sarcastic, he's not actually in decline, he was poking fun at the system.

I don't ever remember being so worried about a presidential election. I have been voting since 1975.

Ronan Farrow: National Enquirer tried to help Trump bury teen rape allegation

American Media Inc. (AMI), the former publisher of the National Enquirer, tried to help Donald Trump bury allegations he raped a teenager in 1994.

Farrow claims that AMI CEO David Pecker was in close contact with Trump when the rape allegations were made public in a 2016 lawsuit, and that then-National Enquirer editor Dylan Howard assured Trump's personal lawyer at the time, Michael Cohen, "that they would track down the woman with the rape allegation and see what they could do about her." An AMI spokesperson told Newsweek Tuesday that Farrow's claims are "completely untrue."

AMI has been accused in the past of purchasing potentially damaging stories about Trump in order to keep them from becoming public—a practice known in the industry as "catch and kill." Last December, AMI admitted that in 2016 it made a $150,000 payment "in concert" with Trump's election campaign to former Playboy model Karen McDougal, who allegedly had an affair with Trump a decade earlier. The publisher made the pact with McDougal "in order to ensure that the woman did not publicize damaging allegations about the candidate before the 2016 presidential election," the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I won't speak for awty, but imma hazard a guess that she's worried because so many idiots like you would even ask a question like that.

Yep, that's basically the reason.  I just don't directly interact with Ahriman anymore...therefore no direct response from me.

Quote:President Biden called into “Morning Joe” on Monday for a defiant interview in which he dismissed what he called “big names” and “elites” in the Democratic Party who have called for him to step aside as the nominee.

“I’m getting frustrated by the elites in the party, ‘Oh, they know so much more,’” Biden said on the MSNBC morning show. “Any of these guys that don’t think I should run, run against me. Announce for president, challenge me at the convention.”

Biden told co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski he was running regardless of what pundits and editorial boards were saying, arguing it was average voters whom he cares about.

Biden laughed off a question about whether he’d been tested for age-related illnesses and blasted former President Trump for remaining out of the public eye over the past week.

[...]

“If you just look at the data and talk to people around the country, political people around the country, it’s more likely that he’ll lose by a landslide than win narrowly this race,” Axelrod said. “And if the stakes are as large as he says, and I believe they are, then he really needs to consider what the right thing to do here is.”

Biden's stubbornness is going to put Trump into office. Whether or not the accusations of dotage are accurate, Biden's image of competence has been damaged. Trump's campaign will almost surely remind voters of this in October, with ads featuring the more egregious moments of the debate.

"However, Harris’s popular-vote edge is almost entirely negated by the bigger Electoral College bias against her. In our polls-only forecast pairing Biden against Trump, the Democratic candidate needs to win the popular vote by just 1.1 points to win the presidency. That’s thanks to Biden doing better in Pennsylvania, the likeliest tipping-point state in our model. Harris, by contrast, would need to win the popular vote by 3.5-4 points to win Pennsylvania and, with it, the Electoral College."
