Yeah, she seems to be employing the Obama strategy of exciting and energizing voters. It seems to be working initially. Its a matter of staying power. Can she keep this up for 3 months and will the message stay fresh that long.

It’s important to note that this will be her ninth election. Granted, there are differences (she’s got to run on a broader platform, appeal to a more diverse electorate, and so on), but she clearly knows how to campaign. Barring major gaffes or the dreaded ‘October surprise’, I don’t foresee enthusiasm for the Not Trump ticket waning. Especially in an abbreviated campaign season.

RE: 2024 US Presidential Election
Quote:A number of House Republicans are privately bashing former President Trump’s selection of Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) as his running mate, warning that the pick will not help — and could hurt — the party’s chances of winning in November.

The Republicans, speaking to The Hill on the condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive topic, raised concerns about Vance’s foreign policy positions, lack of experience and inability to expand the Republican coalition beyond Trump’s base.

There are, to be sure, plenty of Vance supporters in the House GOP conference, particularly hard-line conservatives — including those in the House Freedom Caucus — who favor the populist, America First perspective that the vice presidential nominee espouses. And the Trump campaign is vigorously defending the pick.

But Republicans who spoke to The Hill — including veteran lawmakers, moderates and Reagan-styled conservatives who support a muscular foreign policy — said a much larger number of their colleagues harbor doubts about Vance.

“He was the worst choice of all the options. It was so bad I didn’t even think it was possible,” one House Republican said. “Anti-Ukraine, more of a populist. He adds nothing to the Trump ticket. He energizes the same people that love Trump.”

“I think if you were to ask many people around this building, 9 out of 10 on our side would say he’s the wrong pick,” a second House Republican said. “He’s the only person who can do serious damage.”

This is the sort of talk that breeds resentment on the ticket.

I as well. Vance contributes nothing but gaffery, I think.

I told my wife about your comment that the chump is going to have to keep Vance full term. She laughed pretty hard.

OK, I'm seeing Vance jokes abounding. Not sure if we need another thread for it, though. Here's one that tickled my funny bone. "JD Vance is registered as a sectional predator."  Hehe

Suppose Trump wins the election. Vance is going to be horribly vulnerable if Trump decides to get rid of him.

Not if the Democrats win one or both houses of Congress (they get to approve a new VP). Trump might very well hang on to Vance just to keep from handing Dems a win. He’s petty like that.
