Hi thesummerqueen,

Smug is much too confident in the self, what you're perceiving is simply confidence in God. This is at the heart of why I can live without any significant concern for the opinions of others when it comes to my faith and love of God. But, as a sinner I most certainly have many occasions where I know I fail another person. Be it through impatience with my wife or children...or maybe I sin by having the audacity to think something better of myself over someone else. In these types of situations I do concern myself with the opinions of these people. This concern is rooted in my personal understanding that by behaving this way, be it with arrogance or lack of charity or..., I know that I also offend God.

I personally don't have the confidence to say with any certainty that I'll make it out the door and off to work today. I've been blessed to realize that God decides if I get another heart beat. It's so humbling to realize how dependent we all are on God's life giving grace. Of course, I understand that most here disagree with this belief but we've all been given the free will to choose our path.

But for the grace of God, there go I...

Sugar, I didn't want an explanation. My response was a way to pass the time between my coffee perking and the grits cooking.

I will make one request though: please go look through the threads in which we argued with a member named dqualk. It will save some time to see that we've already heard points from a catholic perspective and were patently unimpressed. If you think you have something new to bring to the the table afterwards, well then bring it. Otherwise, the new members might enjoy arguing with you, but some of us older members are frankly sick and tired of the same old tripe.

Jesus doesn't want us to be converted. That's why he spoke in parables:

Mark 4:11-12 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

Yahweh, your god, has made us non-believers:

John 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

In fact, Yahweh has sent us a "strong delusion" so that we'll have this silly belief that we live in a natural universe:

3) TLIG (Prophesies from God)

OK, who exactly is receiving these "prophecies from God?" I suspect that people who claim they are receiving messages from God are just saying what they want their god to say. That is, God agrees 100% with what they think, because god was invented by man and not the other way around. So I don't put much stock in what certain individuals who claim to receive messages directly from God say.

And your so-called "prophecy" of the earth shaking and the towers crumbling sounds more like an earthquake, not 9/11. If Jesus had said something about Muslims hijacking airplanes and flying them into towers, then you might have something. But as it is you have a bullshit prophecy, because we know that earthquakes happen all the time around the world.
