The end of the world
RE: The end of the world
First video of Harold Camping post-apocalypse.

He looks quite confused. He's meant to be making a statement later today as well.

There's a man who is really struggling with the age old question of "why am I (still) here?"

Why did I expect him to yell, "Hey you damn kids, get off my lawn!?"

No interviews until he comes up with the best excuse he can think of as to why he was wrong about the rapture.

I say we make May 21 an atheist holiday called Harold Camping Day in order to celebrate the failure of his nutty "prophecy," and all the other end-of-the-world "prophecies" that have failed to come true throughout history. Plus if we celebrate it every year it kind of makes it harder for him to try to deny he ever said any such thing, which I'm assuming that over time he and Family Radio will do.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

Good idea!
HuhA man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

The reason I say this is because during the Family Radio broadcast I heard on May 21, they were claiming that he never actually said that the rapture/end of the world would happen in 1994, but that he said it could happen in 1994. After all, the title of his book was 1994 with a question mark!

I just realized that after hearing an interview with Harold Camping that he's the guy I called "Brother Sominex" that I would hear on shortwave, apparently on his shortwave outlet WYFR, because he speaks in such a monotone and is so boring that he could easily put you to sleep if you were having trouble sleeping. I heard him numerous times but never made the connection with the name Harold Camping before.

His "fireside chats" are regularly broadcasted on the Free Access TV channels provided by Time Warner in Manhattan! Now I want to propose that we schedule a program called "Jesus loves you, but everyone else thinks you're an asshole" on Radio Vatican.

Fairness and balance, I say.

Looks like you were correct Camping has changed the date, the new date is 10/21/11. A slight error that's all.
This time there will be less believers holding signs and less news coverage, Harold is more of a cartoon character because of 5/21/11 Like I said before Camping is an Atheists best friend, believers will slowly fall away maybe to another Christian leader but not as hard core as they were and eventually no religion at all for some of them.

Any Christians reading this and still believing in that old fool here is some real world advice. "Keep your jobs, if Jesus returns you won't show up for work on 10/22 big deal, when Jesus does NOT return (that's a fact) you will still have a job on the 22nd.

RE: The end of the world
Let's see, we have "God has shown us his mercy" because Camping claimed that he wouldn't make us suffer until the world is completely destroyed on Oct. 21, "Claim that something invisible and unfalsifiable really did happen" because he claimed that God did come down and pass judgment on everyone, "Revised date in near future" since he claimed the actual rapture would happen on Oct 21 when the world is destroyed, I guess you could throw in "All part of God's plan," and I read some of his followers claiming that it was a reason to believe more strongly. Unfortunately, no bingo.
