Britain's upcoming royal wedding

Britain's upcoming royal wedding
As a royal-hating republican, I will be avoiding the upcoming wedding on the 29th April. Don't know where yet, considering the options.
If it were not for the media and royal spin machine plugging it, I am pretty sure it would be a damp squib.
A recent poll found 75% of those polled showing little or no interest.
Where I live I do not see much enthusiasm and some councils have extended the time for those planning street parties to apply for road closures etc. because the requests are few and far between.
Despite public apathy, the establishment will proclaim it a huge success and " good for the country "
The people won't be fooled though!

I'd be interested what others think.
HuhA man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

Apathetic is the best I can manage. If I'm not doing anything else at the time I might catch some of it on the T.V. but I'm really not that bothered.

I'll want to ignore it too. Usually do any Royal event. I remember Di's funeral only because the people whose house we were looking around we're distracted by it playing on their TV.
If local people have a party I might join in.

There are other ways to keep the sheep happy and in line without religion. This is one of them. Its just a guy hanging himself, nothing new about that Big Grin

Royalty my ass. Let the people bum rush the castle, take the "royals" in their charge. Take all of their wealth and return it to the people they stole it from.

Either that or ignore them I guess..still doesnt make up for all the theivery that family has done.

Well, I saw the Charles and Diana wedding live. The event was done very well. The Brits excel at irrelevant spectacle.

Don't think I'll bother with this one. I presume the British taxpayer is paying for most of it? Or are they making a profit by selling the TV rights.? I would.

I feel a bit (not very) sorry for that poor young gel marrying into that dysfunctional family of halfwits.

PS: I was always rather underwhelmed by Diana and her doe-in-the-spotlight persona. Always seemed to me to be 'a pigeon brained sly madame'.

PPS A perceptive person may have gathered I have neither empathy with nor sympathy for members of a privileged elite with a visceral sense of entitlement.

I hope this fucking "Willy" surprises everyone when Charles dies and abolishes the throne.

Can't believe these elitist jerkoffs are still our heads of state - We're on the other side of the fucking world.

If I saw the Queen somewhere you bet your ass I wouldn't call her "Your Majesty", I might be feeling kind enough to call her "Lady Windsor" but even that has the elitists stench to it.

Did any of you know that the true heir to the throne of Britain lives in Australia? The real king of England? http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/a...32666.html

Just thought I'd add that for no real reason at all. I was pretty surprised to learn of it. Turns out, he has no interest in being king.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

I wish all these fucking people would die.

Every since my wife dragged me to see The King's Fucking Speech I have had a deep antipathy towards the House of Hanover....which is what they were prior to WWI.
