.....tells you whats in the bread, how much of the bread to eat, and how to cook the bread - they even remind us to hydrate.
Boru....lol. We're talking about a book that also contains rather elaborate dietary codes. That the authors had ideas about food and food preparation and that they expressed them both literally and metaphorically is not at all debatable or in question. Still ridiculous, often even more ridiculous because of it.

Right? I know we're usually discussing the big picture stuff in these convos, but I couldn't help but mention the sorts of little human details I love, even in magic books. They're everywhere. We explode out onto anything we create. Today, people flood the internet with pics of whatever they just ate - and back in the day, jesus appears to have gone from dinner to dinner saying stuff. He even told parables about dinners...at dinners....

Anyone ever wonder why being the land of milk and honey was important? It's a recipe for a tonic that was believed (and continues to be believed, to this very day) to have medicinal qualities. God, you see, hadn't just thrown a dart at a map. Want to know the authors of the nt's opinions on the various disputes in the bbq world? You'll find them.
(direct charcoal grilled, btw, simple prep.... just olive oil and salt, but first you have to preserve the meat - grilled jerky - and the methods and tools the authors describe even offer a method of dating the narratives. One of the central peices of the christian faith in miracles swirls around a private waterfront bbq)

Honey, to this day, is considered a superfood. Milk, not so much.

Yeah, I'm not cosigning the claims - but the most superficial google search will confirm that the idea persists. They were a small hill-holding cattle culture. They thought god had cosigned their lifestyle and wrote as much, and conversely that god was not superkeen on farmers. One way you could determine gods favor for you was by counting your head of cattle.
In fairness, milk was a superfood in the context of their lives. We just don't live that way anymore. Extremely hydrating, lots of calories, the livestock could make use of land that would not support other similar products, etc.

The fact that the Bible talks about food has nothing to do with whether your quoted passage qualifies as a recipe. The passage tells what’s in the bread, but does doesn’t give amounts or proportions. And while it tells you what fuel to use for your cooking fire, it doesn’t tell you how big a fire, how hot a fire, or how long to cook the bread.
Tell me if what follows qualifies as a recipe:
Get some flour, eggs, oil, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and bicarb. Cook it in a gas oven.
Boru
