Well, he is Confused-by-christianity and not educated by it.
Btw, Confused-by-christianity, what is your stance on Charles Darwin and evolution? Is evolution real or a lie?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Hey - pretty sure the thread has deteriorated now.
You could open your own thread and let some religious people speak on there??? :-)

If you make a claim, be prepared to back it up with something other than being in a dream state.
And, for future reference, you can't use the Bible to prove the Bible.
You shouldn't deter religious people, you should encourage them to come.
you've nothing to lose and everything to gain by inviting great discussion.
at the end of the day you're both after meaning and truth - the discussions could cooperate to that end. :-)
Do you get the impression that anyone here believes that your participation has been a great discussion? It's long been a source of amusement for us that, insomuch as there might be religious people capable of having good discussion and even though we likely all know at least one such person in our real lives...they're not the kind of religious people who come here, to these boards, and post. We get the nuts who are an embarrassment even to the less nutty. The baby eaters and ghost whisperers, for example.
My wife doesn't post here, and it's not because of all the atheists.....

Right, you came here, apparently.... because you needed atheists to tell you the difference between right and wrong. You needed atheists to tell you how life had meaning. You needed atheists to tell you how things were important. My wife, The Wife, doesn't need any of that and she's mortified by any possible association with or misidentification as a person who does.
The only post she's ever written, if you care to go find it, was a full throated rejection of everything you and the other theists in this thread has had to say about every matter. We have wonderful conversations about religion and meaning and import just about every single day. None of them look anything like this thread.
You might want to explore the possibility that your private reasons and personal methods are the cause of your experience here.

No - i think you're being a bully.
I did come here expecting good things
what i have found - is basically ...
the site lay dormant - it's basically dead
a religious person comes on
bully group kicks in
the religious person tries to reason - gets frustrated, leaves
bullies count it as a win
:-)
In my case - i will leave - yes, when im done (or maybe get booted first)
this will be another one of those "experiences" which i tell people

I have to admit, that even from the atheist side, the level of civil discourse here isn't great. Nor is the level of interaction or amount of active members. And I think all three are connected.
I know I'm not liked here very much, but I'll start a thread/poll on this topic since this isn't the right thread.
