I don't get it. It's not like you have to be an atheist to understand how absurd and offensive a scenario is created by making the claims or asking the questions that caused this thread. It's not something a person ought to do in a church, either. It seems to me like there's a shared understanding and a rational expectation of effects that...somehow..just turns off when evangelists decide to join this board.

If you need to share experiences with no critical thinking or critique involved, do that with other church members, or keep praying, aka talking to yourself. Why is it that criticue is so threatening to you and your beliefs? Do you need to shield them? If so, why and from what do you need to shield them?

Beliefs that cannot suffer scrutiny are most likely not worth holding.

Pretty deep question..but yeah, I'm sure of it. There's no one with a genuine belief in christ that isn't in a very deep well of grief. To put a fine point on it, beyond just the theological and philosophic considerations...people who report visions of christ are often under extreme duress. They are not particularly wealthy. They are not in great situations. Christ is a savior god, after all.

if you think someone is genuinely that bad off (in my case - i dont think you really believe that) - then help, or do something useful.

I'm not a psychologist, the forums aren't therapy. To be honest, I don't know how I could possibly help you. I can only point out where your misperceptions run afoul of mere reality. The rest is between you and your god. Ostensibly, religious faiths can help to deal with grief. I'm confident you'll get there even if you take a long and circuitous route.
