Trump's re-branding-but-not-really-re-naming the Defense Department to the War Department is like to cost US taxpayers something over $1 billion, and re-naming just nine US Army bases comes with a price tag of about $39 billion.

These aren't big numbers in the grand scheme of things, but it's a weird optic for an administration that gloats about cutting wasteful spending.
