I'm torn between two answers to that particular sentiment.

#1: Yeah, and they took not only their primitive bows and arrows, but they took much of they could of their cultures and populations, and gave what was left a whiskey bottle, several generations' worth of poverty and trauma, and a few crappy parcels of land that even they didn't care for.

According to the White House, Trump's tariffs are about to make Americans live like Jesus who also didn't have stuff like a job and electricity but managed just fine.

The youngest White House press secretary ever Karoline Leavitt - who is married to a man 32 years her senior - confused members of the press when answering a question for the Trump administration.

When asked about the tariff war between Canada and the United States after the prime minister of Canada said he would consider cutting off electricity to America if Donald Trump continues to impose tariffs, she referenced Jesus Christ.

"They want you to panic, but President Trump wants you to remember Jesus didn’t have electricity either and he did just fine," Leavitt said.

Wait until the foreign-aid cutoff means larger expenditures in contingency military budgets. It's cheaper to be strong with civilian aid.

President Donald Trump recently ordered the release of massive amounts of water from two California dams, and now local farmers are scrambling to preserve precious freshwater resources needed for dry summer months...Trump tweeted a "photo of beautiful water flow that I just opened in California," writing: "Today, 1.6 billion gallons and, in 3 days, it will be 5.2 billion gallons." He suggested that the water release would help officials in the Golden State fight wildfires in Southern California.

However, water managers in Tulare County told Bakersfield, California-based news site SJV Water — which covers water issues in the San Joaquin Valley – that there are multiple physical and legal barriers that prevent the valley's water from getting to Southern California. SJV Water reported that the water would have to be "pumped at great expense" across the valley to the California Aqueduct, where it would still need to travel hundreds of miles to make it to the Los Angeles area.

Climate scientist Peter Gleick — who specializes in water issues — lamented on Bluesky that water resources farmers had been "relying on" was effectively "thrown away" by the Trump administration all for the sale of "a photo op & a bragging media post."

"This water will not be captured, will not be useful for cities or farms or firefighting," Gleick wrote. "It is now lost."

Here's how: Foreign students could lose their visas if they are arrested or expelled. But they could soon also be vulnerable to losing their right to study in the United States if they were found to participate – or have participated in – pro-Palestinian protests or support other policies or ideologies that run afoul of the new administration.

Adam Abu, vice president of Students for Justice in Palestine, a pro-Palestinian group at the University of Minnesota, said new protests have been planned at the campus since October.

“But now it’s hard for us to recommend foreign students to come to protests when they might be deported just for protesting,” he said. “(The executive order) has set a dangerous precedent for future protests.”

Among those whom Abu does not want to invite to demonstrations on campus are three students from Gaza that have recently been invited to attend the university.

It seems that Trump thinks that Canada will succumb to tariffs and become a part of the USA.

Speaking on his Truth Social platform on Sunday afternoon, Mr Trump said: "We pay hundreds of Billions of Dollars to SUBSIDIZE Canada. Why? There is no reason.

"We don't need anything they have. We have unlimited Energy, should make our own Cars, and have more Lumber than we can ever use."

He claimed that without the "massive subsidy" Canada "ceases to exist as a viable country".

He added: "Therefore, Canada should become our Cherished 51st State. Much lower taxes, and far better military protection for the people of Canada - AND NO TARIFFS!"

This is a threat to annex the territory of another sovereign country. It's on the verge of a declaration of war.

Even the Wall Street Journal - the standard bearer of mainstream American conservatism - has called this ‘The Dumbest Trade War In History”, putting the blame for it squarely on Trump.

I really don’t think Trump’s bloviating amounts to ‘a threat to annex’ Canada. If it did, then Canada’s offer to take California, Oregon, and Washington would also qualify. Trump says things because he can’t shut up.
