That’s what I think is at the root of it all. Especially for trans folk.

That is so incredibly nuts to me from my personal point of view. However, to them it might mean the difference in the scales for their eternal happiness. If you knew, or fully believed, you were getting that eternal reward wouldn't you work a little harder to get the old bearded man's agenda done? Here on the trial live world? How do you reach somebody who thinks that way?

NM. I don't mean to put you on the spot. That's an impossible question. If we had the answer to it we'd have gotten clean of organized faith long ago.

I don't know if you can reach them. I think the better idea is to make sure they stay out of positions of power.

They aren’t afraid of gay people.

They are afraid of their gang leader who had a book written telling people to kill the icky gay people.

You just gotta wonder why they aren’t killing the gays here in this xian nation of the USA as their gang leader commands them to do.

Same reason that gods people failed to kill all of the amalekites and destroy all of their possessions. They see everything that is good...their own peers, friends, family, art and music and culture, dollars and cents...and they don't want to throw it all away...no matter what god tells them to do.

They miss the lesson of so many magic books - that it's particularly important to do the stupid shit god says to do.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

RE: Why are Christians afraid of Gay People?
I had problems with this when I realised I was gay (at around 18 years old).

I was converted to christianity in my first year at University and I had some problems with it.

I accepted being celibate for my entire life but kept asking questions. I was told, "it's your cross to bear", but it seemed so unfair. I didn't choose to be gay, yet I'm punished if I accept it?

Then I'd get told, "homosexuality does not occur in nature, therefore it's unnatural". Except... many years AFTER I left that group, I find out it DOES occur in nature therefore it is natural.

And they wonder why I'm hostile to them?

After I left I slowly deprogrammed myself. At first, I suppressed it all and it felt miserable. I finally talked to a counsellor and that helped me come to terms with it.

I've been with my current partner over 20 years now. I do worry that the world will turn again and I may find myself outlawed again. 8(

Depending on which country you're from, your sexuality will not be outlawed within your lifetime.

I'm in the UK. When I was 18, in 1978, the age of consent was 21. So it would have been illegal for me to have had a boyfriend at 18. It's now 16, I believe. Also, I could not marry until much later.
