You should already know this because you're in the same boat. It's similar to how Christians do this with the Bible. Wink

I've always asked the question:

If god think's it's wrong to be gay, then why does he create people as gay?
As the OP pointed out being gay is NOT a person's choice, so why the fuck did god create them gay? I'd like any religious believer to answer this question.
I'm not gonna accept 'because it's a test' . You might as well rephrase your answer as 'because god is an asshole'.

BTW I think people who say being gay is unnatural need to go and look at nature. I'm sure they wouldn't refuse a blowjob eh? Technically that's just as unnatural as fucking someone in the ass, the only difference is that you won't get poo on your weiner.

Arrgghh Arrgghh Arrgghh Arrgghh Arrgghh

Really? We are now going to discuss issues accepting arguments based on a collection of myths and superstitions, supposedly dictated to a bunch of ignorant sheep herders by a fictitious man in the sky?

This is so stupid! Any of us could write our own Great Book, fill it with made-up nonsense and then claim that it is a perfectly valid reference to be used in a serious argument. The tactic is both very old and uncomfortably new (remember Ron Hubbard?)

Let me be clear about the way I feel about it: I believe that the Bible is an absolutely useless book. It would be useless in either of two situations:

a) God does not exist - some clever guy invented him/her, in order to make a living out of talking bullshit, instead of doing real work. In this case, clearly the Bible is useless.

b) God does exist (for the record, I don't think so). If he/she exists, the illiterate tribesmen who tried to put down his ideas in words just couldn't do it. Try this: explain how a reverse mortgage works, to a member of one of those tribes recently discovered in the upper Amazon river, and then ask him to explain it back to you. The result will be incomprehensible goobledygook, right? This would explain the severe inconsistencies about gays reported above. And don't even get me started about "they should be put to death"? This would mean that the Laws in 99% of the Countries in the World would actually - and legally - defy God? OMFG?!!!!!

So, at the risk of being rude to those Theists that are trying to prove whatever stupid point they have regarding gays: sorry... Your arguments are baseless, your ideas are wrong, some 7% of all mankind is gay, they are not going away and the Pope wears a dress.

If you're talking to me I actually wasn't really interested in a discussion about it. I was trying to make the point that there are no reasonable arguments they can come up with to think that being gay is wrong.
As long as whatever one person practices in their own home doesn't have to bother me or other people, why should I be concerned?

You believe that being gay is not a choice. They were made like that to stay like that. But, here's the thing:

To my knowledge, there is no definitive answer on whether or not homosexuality is entirely genetic. I do agree with medical studies which support that there can be a genetic/biological foundation for homosexuality. What I don't believe, however, is the idea that the biological hardwiring is the one and only cause for a person's homosexuality. The correlation between the environment and sexual orientation is too obvious to deny and the fact that there are many people who have completely stopped being homosexual and thus no longer desire such relationships is proof that there is a large psychological element to the "condition." Furthermore, the issue of whether or not homosexuality is purely rooted in biological structure is debated even by the scientific community.

Again, I admit that there may a genetic component to the issue, but not the degree that it makes it impossible for them to stop having such relationships or that they cannot ever change themselves. I don't think that homosexuality is entirely genetic, and while genes are important there is also the nurture aspect of this argument which is being somewhat ignored. There could be a genetic link to almost any other human qualities, but still, this doesn't have to mean that we are always going to be slaves to the genes or that we don't have a choice in deciding whether we want to live with a male or a female.

For example, scientists have discovered that there is a gene for anger, a gene for happiness, and recently, even a gene for altruism.

So, what's the difference if there's a "gay gene"?
The point is that such studies which support the idea of linking an X gene to an X trait and then make the implication as if we are not responsible for those behaviors at all, is not always valid, IMO.

Please reference this as to my knowledge there has been no link between homosexuality and environment whatsoever.

Read the testimonies of these people and you will realize that they never stop being gay, they just suppress the feelings because that's what their religion and loved ones want them to do. These people have been brainwashed into believing they are evil so they have to pretend they don't feel what they feel for the sake of their eternal soul. Quite sad really.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
