I understand the combat boots, but I would think a bridal gown would not be an effective battle dress uniform. And an AR-15 or AK-47 would be a better longer-range weapon than a sword.

No, I doubt that it would be that good for combat. That's why Yoko Littner on Gurren Lagann always wore a bikini when in combat.
