Who says the USA is a developed nation? Massive amounts of poverty, anti-science oganisations gutting school curricula, politicians who pray for rain (such as Tex. Gov. Rick Perry).

My village streets here are all dirt, there is no public transportation, they're trying to close the post office and make this epilepsy-suffer go fifteen miles one way for his mail, no TV or Radio stations, no chance for a real high speed Internet network such as the UK or Japan or South Korea.

Wealth concentrated in the hands of the few, infrastructure such as the Chicago Skyway being sold to foreign companies. I submit this is not a developed nation. We have some toys we borrowed the money for, and a frightfully large military, but that is all.

Excuse-me but to say the USA is not developed is really offensive to all the really undeveloped and poor countries in the world, you should really stop only looking to your over-fed whinny belly and look around. High speed internet really? A spoilled brat is what you are...

Short-sighted is what you are. Undeveloped countries are shitter than the USA, but that doesn't mean the USA is necessarily not shit compared with anywhere else.

Some derogatory comments I could understand in that context; "go out more"?
1. It's "get".
2. getting out more is going to make me think the US is developed? I don't even live in the US.
3. People who say this are always fucking assholes. No exceptions.

Developed is not an absolute term. No country will ever be "developed" to the point where it can stop developing. Your definition of "developed" probably boils down to "US-like", which would explain it. I believe the commonly used term is "More Economically Developed", which is kind of strange when you think about it because economically developed seems to mean being in shit loads of debt with a choice between two possible parties neither of which have a particularly good strategy for dealing with it.

Anymouse's point is that, although America may well have a generally higher quality of life, life expectancy, income etc., calling it "developed" is wrong because there are still many things wrong with life in the US, including things which aren't wrong elsewhere. Don't bitch about it just because Africa exists. You're like people who say "there are children starving in Africa and you're whining about X Y and Z". You've missed the fucking point.

Anyway so what if I get shitty at you for unjustly calling someone a spoilt brat? I call plenty of people worse than that. In fact you should consider yourself lucky to have got off with "short sighted". Seriously, fuck off complaining already, there are people who have been called the following:
- Motherfucker
- Cunt faced monkey raper
- Cock sucker
- Dipshit
- Shithead
- Moron
- Asswipe
- Wanker
- Bitch

And you get all bitchy about "short sighted"? YOU FUCKING SPOILT BRAT!

wow, calm down, go have a chocolatemilk.

I don´t think developed is USA-like, and I meant economically developed which is in comparison to the other countries on earth. Never implied that 'developed' meant that there was no room for improvement either. I meant it exactly as one mean in this type of argument.

I wasn't pissed or being bicthy (not for my standards) I just thought you were sounding like a 1st world cry baby, I've seen poverty and lack of high speed internet is not even close to it.

and yeah there is Africa, it's there and it makes your complaints even more ridiculous.

But you and anymouse have all the right to disagree, and stand for the rampant poverty in USA.

as for any spelling errors just consider it as my charming accent in written form..

I'm concerned that you think you need to resort to silly insults to make me angry. Disagreeing with me about stuff will do fine.

>economically developed which is in comparison to the other countries on earth
Economically developed seems to boil down to how much debt you can get your country into before letting its economy crash, however, I see what you're trying to say

>and yeah there is Africa, it's there and it makes your complaints even more ridiculous.
I complained about something? The only thing I'm complaining about is the fact that you call people spoilt brats with no justification. I haven't complained about the lack of high-speed internet in America, or even the lack of high-speed internet where I actually live.

Stop clinging to high speed internet, it's one of the sillier things mentioned.

I think you're confusing the following: "America is not developed" and "America is not developed compared with Africa". Nobody is arguing with the latter, I've seen and heard enough to know where I'd prefer to live, but that really wasn't what it was about.

Wow, I didn't mean to come off whining. I meant to show that "development" is relative.

And overfed, whiney belly? I am 5'10" and weigh 115#.
(1,77 meters, 52 kg)

Someone suggested I get out more. As we rank near the bottom on public transportation, and I have epilepsy, are you volunteering to drive me?

For example, from our own intelligence service, the CIA's World Fact Book.
On life expectancy at birth, the United States ranks 50th.
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications...2rank.html

On education expenditure per person, the USA ranks 43rd, behind countries such as Cuba.
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications...6rank.html

On per capita income, the USA is 11th.
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications...4rank.html

On military expenditures, we are 24th as a percentage of GDP.
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications...4rank.html

On infant mortality we rank 177th. That's pretty good. Croatia is worse, Cuba and the Czech Republic are better, though nations with a dedicated midwifery corps consistently rank ahead of us (like the UK, but that's that socialist NHS system for you).

As a side note to this, when my 1st wife was pregnant with our son in Virginia Beach, we asked the Commonwealth of Virginia for the maternal/natal death rates of all the health care providers in Hampton Roads. All the hospitals ranked down with the third world, the midwifery clinic had never had a recorded death. No brainer, my [ex-]wife chose to have our son at home with a midwife. And the cost for all care was $700 including out to six weeks after the birth, paid for by military insurance. Compare that price to a hospital delivery.
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications...1rank.html

I won't bother with public transportation; with epilepsy, I know just where we rank with that every time I need to go somewhere and have to ask someone to drive me.

The World Fact Book is a wonderful read, even its online version (the CIA sells a coffee table version of the book every year with keen illustrations and such). It shows us just how poorly we rank in the areas we deem as "development."

But on national debt, we are certainly number one.

Each nation is ranked by various items of what are seen to be military or political importance by the CIA on https://www.cia.gov/library/publications...guide.html
Just looking through the list is an eye-opener to the American who thinks "we're the greatest." We can't even keep our babies alive as well as Cuba.

The Fact Book used to be a classified publication put out every year for the Legislature and Federal officials. In recent years, the CIA has made it available as an unclassified publication.

Oh? What are those limitations? And how does religion make them clear? I understand Frodo, that religion is not to you what it is to either myself, or the people responsible for religion. Give me a reason to accept your view of the limitations of science that amounts to something more than special pleading for your own beliefs.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I meant USA as being Economically developed, I can't drive for you, I don't know how to, and I am in South America (that area under Mexico)

I do feel sorry for you're first major economical crisis since the 30's but I'm just trying to put things in pesrpective here.

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications...1rank.html

It's very hard argue that America is poor.

Back on topic: My argument was that the Atheism replacing religion is not a "developed" country thing (based on the G-8)
I think it is a scandinavian thing instead.
