What a strange thing to say.

RE: What a strange thing to say.
Actually the mechanism in question isn't all that amazing. That there is a mechanism, sure...that's pretty sweet. Most of the things a plant does are actually mechanical responses, we've been botanists for nearly 10k years. In fact, by the time the bible was written, we commanded in immense body of knowledge pertaining to agriculture and had hybridized nearly all modern crops from a small handful of parent flora. Ag wasn't a mystery to the people of the bronze age, they were actually becoming quite good at it, the first "green revolution" was about to go down.

The guy who wrote that sermon appears to be confusing dormancy with death, I'm still not over it yet.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I have one tiny, semantic, quibble with this; I think it is amazing, but then nature often is.
Reality is far more amazing and awe inspiring than made-up, reality-avoiding stories.

Oh Indeed, I find it mystifying while people don't get utterly amazed when they read about various scientific discoveries. Compared to what we have discovered about the universe and are continuing to, the stories in the bible is not the least bit amazing.
