It looks like your selected version of the passages would seem to describe a volcano (or conversely a dragon). Of course we could find passages to describe any idea we wished to describe if we knew what we wanted to find, it is a very large collection of texts. If the narrative originally described a volcano, it is not Santorini. The particular type of narrative that we see in the bible has sources elsewhere, and at earlier and later dates (depending on old/new testament). Am I not communicating this idea very well?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. He wouldn't be alone. Okay, you believe that this theory has merit, lets devise a test shall we?
BTW on Habiru, and who the Habiru were..we have a bunch of names for people like this today. We don't use them in public. Thats what Habiru meant in practice to the egyptians. They were described as people of all kinds from many places, who were all outlaws, rebels, invaders or nomads...but importantly different from Egyptians. Read "Habiru" like a certain word that begins with an N and ends with bigotry.
Rainey, Anson (2008-11). "Shasu or Habiru. Who Were the Early Israelites?". Biblical Archeology Review (Biblical Archaeology Society) 34 (06 (Nov/Dec)). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shasu
Notice that both of these groups are given similar names (in meaning) and both were considered as candidates for an early Israel. There are important distinctions between the two, habiru "sounds" similar, the Shasu are actually called "The Shasu of YWH", but that's where similarity ends. The exodus did not occur, at all.
(Don't even ask why I cared to learn this stuff...except to say to say that the middle east was one of the birthplaces of ag, and so it became one of my side interests)

Psalm 18:8 Smoke rose from his nostrils; consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it.
Psalm 50:3 Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages.
Psalm 97:3 Fire goes before him and consumes his foes on every side.
Daniel 7:10 A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before him. Thousands upon thousands attended him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was seated, and the books were opened.
Revelation 4:5, "And out of the throne proceeded lightnings, and thunderings, and voices."
Psalm 18:12 Out of the brightness of his presence clouds advanced, with hailstones and bolts of lightning.
Job 26:14 And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power?"
Job 36:29 Who can understand how he spreads out the clouds, how he thunders from his pavilion?
Job 37:4 After that comes the sound of his roar; he thunders with his majestic voice. When his voice resounds, he holds nothing back.
I could go on for days but surely I can get one atheist on here to say what not one Christian could say elsewhere....'Yes, it looks like Yahweh was a volcano.'
Yep? Nope?
Yes it looks like yahweh was a volcano (from the lines you quoted)...
Although also from viewing the quotes you made you can also say Yahweh looks like a storm cloud. Like someone already said (I think theVOID), there are many other possibilities. What do you want us all to do? Assert your theory as fact and give you a big pat on the back?
Meh, he's got his theory, he can devise a test and run it, come back with the results.

I operate under the assumption that everyone online is a male until positive evidence of the absence of penis (PAP for short) is provided.
(hehe, seriously though it is an odd quirk of my style of internet discussion, there's a definite urge towards the "he" in any conversation, call it the stamp of misogny)

Citing The Exodus Decoded ( by that noted con man, Simcha Jacobovici ) tells me that you are not a serious student of this issue. You take events separated by hundreds of years ( Thera and Ramesses III's "defeat" of the Sea People ) and run them together into a whole.
The Minoan civilization on Crete did recover after Thera and was finally done in by Mycenaen Greeks in the mid 14th century BC. What we do not know is how long a period of conflict may have existed prior to the final conquest. Thera, modern Santorini, was blasted to hell. No question about that. I've been to Santorini and photos of the caldera do not do justice to the scale of the blast.
That's our ship...it is 600 feet long. If you stood its bow on the surface of the water the stern would only reach 2/3 of the way up the cliff. As Judas suggested above, the power of volcanoes is indeed humbling.
As for Jacobovici, like most religious fanatics he starts with an assumption that his bullshit is true and then cherry picks to find evidence which supports it. In his case, he tends to misrepresent even that evidence.

Not a dragon. I've now come across hundreds of verses that point without a shadow of doubt to a volcano. You are right, the verses I'm quoting that suggest a volcano are not describing Santorini. Santorini was the massive volcano that happened around the time, or before, the Exodus is claimed to have occured. That volcano and its massive eruption might well have been remembered by some as being the catalyst that changed the situation in Egypt. It will have caused massive disruption to normal life. Maybe it gave the Hebrews (or the people who became known as the Hebrews) an opportunity to flee. One idea is that they fled with Egyptian gold, hence the reason why (sorry....according to the Bible) the Egyptian army chased them. I read that the Habiru people stole from the Egyptians. Possibly a connection there.
Not only with the Bible be partly or mostly inaccurate but it may well also be baised in favour of the Hebrews. So instead of them being slaves in Egypt, maybe they were thieves, vagrants and people living on the fringe of society. People in need of a fresh start. Now that would certainly be a past in need of removing wouldn't it?
