I've seen first hand how extremist fundamentalism fucks with people subtlety. Whether they're happy about it or not is a question that comes up though. I'm an agnostic.
Which ones? Like Thor, Athena, for sure.

I'm Atheist/don't care since forever Then Harassed by MENNONITE BRETHREN ORGANIZED CRIME Like I'm on their top 10, atheist devil list. 24/7 surveillance, swarming, stalking, character defamation, threats, intimidation. At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Catz are you seriously outnumbered in your own community by believers? My own family is rife with it but I just don't hang with them a lot. I'm fortunate that my youngest brother is also an atheist. Otherwise they're all pretty certifiable, including mormons and gawd only knows what. But at least in my home town of Berkeley, hard core religionists are few and far between. We have them, they just don't feel they own the place. Only the pan handlers regularly say "god bless". I can only imagine what its like in other parts of the country. My wife goes to Tennessee to see specialists at Vanderbilt and is good friends with one of them. His mother told her everyone in Nashville had to belong to a church. She wasn't very religious herself but apparently life would be too difficult if you had no church affiliation at all. Hard to imagine. |
