Where as the bible contradicts itself chapterly.
Let's face it archaeology is more reliable than the bible when it comes to fact.

However, I have some atheists telling me that archeology proves the exodus never happened, and now I have you telling me that archeology proves that Jews were polytheists before the exodus. So which is it? Did the exodus happen or did it not happen?

Apparently David Ben Gurion sent archaeologists out to find proof in the Sinai but they found nothing.
Google it, I'm no expert.

I'm no expert either but I read that as "before Exodus was written". The events never happened but the book itself was real.

No, exodus didn't happen. Yes, they were polytheistic at a point in time just like everyone else around them. Expecting history to align itself to a fairy tale is expecting too much of fairy tales Stat.
