It would be difficult for an atheist to be wrong about atheism. Unless he had no idea what was going on in his own head. It is, at least in and of itself, an infallible position.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

You make some good points, and I have wondered the same myself. There are certainly some atheists who are too sure of themselves. I try to convince people to live open-mindedly, yet more and more of the atheists I know seem to be viewing the world in black and white. Honestly, and I say this as an atheist myself, if atheists got control of the world today, I believe that we would foul things up almost as badly as theists because we all too often make the same assumptions of our own superiority. We must never allow our confidence to become arrogance. We cannot afford to become like the church-loonies who, in the past, scoffed that the earth was round. We must always be willing a test out new hypothesis without mocking them. (Unless, of course, it's something as ridiculous as "pink unicorns carry the earth.")
That being said, no. Religion is not correct, and atheists actually do have much stronger points than theists because we do research out of something other than a thousand year old book. Saying theism is as valid as atheism is like saying your uncle Phil is as good a general as Erwin Rommel. One side has evidence, experience, and will actually win a battle through years of accumulated tactical knowledge. The other will get drunk and watch football all afternoon until his house gets shelled to the ground by long range artillery. What falls away is always, and is near.
Also, I am not pretending to be female, this profile picture is my wonderful girlfriend. XD

Why are you talking like all of us atheists are in the same fucking club. We don't have anything in common other than our lack of belief in god, don't pretend it is anything more than that. One atheist's view on slavery may be different to another atheist. One atheist's view on politics may be different to another atheist. One atheist's view on secularism may be different to another atheist. Don't assume that every atheist acts and thinks the same. Not everyone is a prick you do know that?
Which is the more arrogant claim:
1) I am certain that the is no god, because there is a lack of evidence and sound arguments for said entity 2) I am certain there is a god, because the arguments for his existence are sound and he personally communicates with me Whether atheist are of the strong or weak variety, I'm afraid theists have a almost unparalleled monopoly on breathtaking arrogance.

Except that is never a theists statement (that I've ever heard anyway) Captain. And the atheistic statement you make is fallacious.
I believe there is a God. That's it. I can be certain through faith. It's much like the definition of atheism: sans God.. nothing more. 1.) Theists believe in God because they have reason to. 2.) Atheists don't believe because they have no reason to. If we're talking about existence... then... 1.) Theists don't know if God exists 2.) Atheists don't know if God exists Arrogant claims would be unsupportable claims. Strong theist or strong atheist = arrogant.
And your reason to? Because the only reason I can think of would be fear. And that is no way to live.
