the god created science argument

the god created science argument
Ok my head hurts sooo bad right now by slamming it against a wall. My father is a dead set in his ways christian (thank god not right wing). And he asked how I can believe in science and not god, because god made science and scientist. And I bring up the argument that science really disproves god since physics does not allow for supernatural event because if so we would have witnessed them by now. So why would god create something that would disprove him and then he uses the comeback "to test our faith" so I replied that "so your god is setting you up to fail instead of succeed? And he replies now cause I know I'm going to heaven when I die. and from here just turns into another creationist temper tantrum. Any ideas?

Where do you get the idea that physics disproves God? Science has nothing to say about the supernatural. There is no empirical evidence for or against spirit. I would also ask why you believe that our instrumentation could possibly measure God. The whole idea is pretty shallow thinking..as if, if we just had a powerful enough telescope, we could observe God..and God would say "Ahh..you got me!" He's God.., He knows what we're up to. If He wanted to prove Himself, He could write His name on the clouds..it's not as if He is going to let human beings put Him in a corner. The idea that science could prove or disprove God is essentially irrational.

So, in other words, you have no argument to the contrary?

Science is a process, the pursuit of knowledge. It is mankind's endeavour to understand and predict reality. It was not created by any god or gods. Deities cannot create an intellectual and practical activity or system that we established on our own.

Your dad needs to go visit his local library and apply himself to good scholarly research once in a while.

Why ever not?

If the supernatural has any effect then it should me measurable and quantifiable by the scientific method.
To say that something is never able to be proved is another way of saying it does not exist.

If at any point a claim is made about the material world (every page of the bible) then we can fact check it. The faithful build their little wall only to buttress their ridiculous faith. They don't actually throw all those material claims in the dustbin, they just don't like to be reminded of them. Essentially they argue for the deists god and just name it Christ for the hell of it. Whenever people go down the NOM route, remember that they would be screaming the rafters off if something did show up in the realm of science that suggested god. They're just pissed that it hasn't, and so they invent reasons (other than the obvious reason) that this is so.

(case in point, the ken ham and ray comforts of the world think they have something and they're loud about it, the Frodos of our world know they don't, and so attempt to excuse themselves from the burden of proof entirely)
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
