Today I spent a happy couple of hours in three large stores,annoying sales people by asking them questions about touch screen Pc's and actually touching every screen in sight.

The first guy was a hard-sell little wanker who obviously though I'm a complete idiot. (or perhaps he was)

I found two which met my needs; An ACER and a HP,for about $1200,which is all I'm willing to spend.:

Each had 2.9ghz quad processor (Athlon,which I'm not sure about) 6 gb RAM,1TB hardrive, Radeon 512 mb graphics, Wifi,Bluetooth, Bluray ROM and dual layer DVD burner . Windows 7.

This box is almost 4 years old and I'm getting sick of it. I will buy a new one next year,just before the 2013 generation is released. or earlier,depending on my money tree,assuming no financial emergencies.


There are a LOT of computer shops around. I take notes. More fun next week,might go into town and annoy some people in the big department stores.Thinking of taking my handicam. Tiger

I've been keeping a running tally:

Insulting people on this forum without really insulting them.

Flirting girls up atrociously and seeming sweet about it

Annoying the fuck out of sales people without getting his head bashed in.

Touch screen PC? Heretic! And those specs... what the fuck are you going to do with a 1 TB HD? That's like 1.5 thumb drives! And what is the graphics card? 512mb sounds pretty weak, but maybe it's fast. And RAMs cheap don't let those fuckers charge you extra for RAM. 2.9 ghz isn't so great either. Still annoying sales people = fun!

Mate, it's October 2011, I will probably buy it in 2012. I have a LOT of looking and research to,without even thinking about all the gratuitous advice I will ignore.

I am not a nerd, think touch screens are groovy and I want one.

1TB? Why not? It's just a toy.

6 GB of RAM will be enough,but will probably have 8.


This box has a Radeon HD 2400, 250mb and it's fine. I don't play games,or watch movies ,so 512 mb is just dandy.

I would get one built if I knew anyone I trust, but I don't. Nor can I physically build it myself.(it's called "a benign tremor",in my hands. I break delicate things.) It's only money. I can afford double, but $1200 is about right.Computers keep getting better and cheaper; In 1999, I paid $2000 for my Pentium 2.---64 mb of RAM SEVEN GB hard drive.

I was mostly joking :p I actually don't know what a touch screen monitor and software is worth. I suppose if you don't play any games and don't store movies or tv shows on your comp you wouldn't really need more than 1 TB... but why would you do that to yourself? It's like having a penis and abstaining.

According to wikipedia:

One hour of SDTV video at 2.2 Mbit/s is approximately 1 GB.
Seven minutes of HDTV video at 19.39 Mbit/s is approximately 1 GB.
114 minutes of uncompressed CD-quality audio at 1.4 Mbit/s is approximately 1 GB.

So 1TB= a mere 1000 hours of standard quality porn, or 116 hours of High-def porn.

You're going to need more space.

Can't see the point of large virtical touch screens. Lay them flat sure, otherwise it's just awkward to use. And these aren't designed to lay flat.
