You dont REALLY own those fields. that piece of paper called a deed doesnt mean shit, especially if some huge corporation eyeballs your property with ambition.

Say good buy to your field and hello to a new Wallmart parking lot...all legal...and barely receiving 75% of the value of your land in payment as well.

Hell, sometimes they dont even pay you. Imminent domain in America is 3 foot past the road...but, of course, you are responsible for caring for the land..it just isnt really yours. So once they stretch their road wider by 3 foot on each side then imminent domain kicks in again and says the next three foot of land on the side of the road is state property.

Not to mention you cant own land anyways, no matter how much people argue legalities and hold up peices of paper that say otherwise...humans cannot own land.

Sounds like reality is getting you down. It's just the evil emanating from this Christians this time of year. Makes me just wanna kill 'em 'cause I'm all evil and shit... got me thinking long-term strategy where I go OJ with the senseless sensationalism to make religion GTFO. Or at least a novel about it. It aint the paper, it's the rifle that says I own it, more specifically the guy with his finger on the trigger, which would be me....

The paper is just pretense of conforming to established traditions and authority. It would be so much better if one could just lay claim to unoccupied land, in my opinion. Besides, it isn't really the land that I want, but what I can produce with it. If someone could show me a way to share the surface area I need without preventing me from reaching my goal of tasty food for pennies on the dollar I'd gladly help him build his dream over or under or around my own. I seem to recall you mentioning that people should own the means of production (perhaps I'm confusing you with someone else, if so my bad), well, land is a means of production, shouldn't the people who produce on it own it?

Land is an attempt at assurance of continuity for me and mine and all of those who would become mine down through time. In that regard land ownership and stewardship is pretty much a religious conviction for me. I've heard all the arguments against it and I agree with most of them, and yet still I desire it, and would do just about anything to secure larger and larger pieces of it.

I agree in the scene that no one can "own" land cause we are not immortal, the land with be there much longer then we.

If we claim unoccupied land, and produce, and contribute some of our crops back to the people, I see no reason to be not allowed to "own" the land. We own it as long as we produce it.
We are using the earth as indented.
Big co-op farms would be a nice idea, people live and work on their land and x amount of families could live in the area and produce the land. Keep a % for themselves and give a % to the non farmers. In return get non farm related products.
Land grabs should be illegal, how can the government say that a Wal-mart parking lot is needed by the community? If anything it hurts the community, but it keeps the dollars rolling. Damn money!
