I think Rev E. Tupango (latest commentor) is a perfect example of how mant theists view science.

Insisting that their god and/or Jesus is demonstrably, provably real - then proving it with quotes from their sole source, a book of mythology.
Bringing up Josephus, Suetonius, Tacitus and the younger of the Plinys as if they actually mean what they want them to. Ending a discussion, even a friendly non-religious one, with "Well, I'll pray for you anyway!" or somesuch. Basically anything from this list. And for me, the one that really makes me want to smash my head against the wall until the stupid stops, or there's a new door, whichever comes first:

What does 'Were you there' even mean? What are they asking?

Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.
Coming late to this one so apologies if i'm duplicating but I hate it when theists threaten to " pray for you " in full knowledge that you are atheist.
Even worse, I deplore those theists in the medical profession who pray for their patients withouy obtaining permission so to do. At worst, this practice is dangerous. I'm thinking of a vulnerable patient with a serious illness thinking that only a " miracle " can cure them because a nurse or doctor has started praying!  A man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?
Probably when creationists ridicule evolution, and think they're disproving it, when in fact they just don't understand it; I know someone out there, maybe a child, will listen to what he's saying and throw evolution in the garbage. It's a real horror story. Think it's the next plot to one of Stephen Kings novels actually.
At least a lot of good literature has come out the Christian faith. But that was way back. |
