Only if all you did was read the cover of "the selfish gene" and then came to a faulty conclusion. Dawkins has been a big advocate AGAINST people being selfish assholes. He only says the genetics are inherently selfish, not the people themselves. He even EXPRESSLY condemns the idea of social darwinism...that is, if you only took the time to listen to him. Besides, how would that make him a religious nut? Me suggesting that most people are assholes has nothing to do with me being a religious nut.

This is a purposeful example of flawed logic...right?
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
