I would guess that it was because he cant believe that we dont believe in god and has invented a reason to explain the apparent contradiction in believeing in a god but proffessing not to.

because symptoms were presented for the theists rejecting atheists. I don't have those reactions so I don't mind trying the show on the other foot. re you denying that the symptoms match the reaction? It was not my reason dbp, not did I state that all atheists reject god. It could be worth exploring why some do though.

I reject the man-made notion of a tyrannical creator god as a useful or valuable tool with which to align ones life individually or society communally. It isn't any "god" that I'm rejecting. They don't exist.

There, that's exhibit A-Z. God's can only be demonstrated to exist in the pages of these little contraptions (and they have been demonstrated to exist within the same very thoroughly). The origin of this particular object is very well understood. Everything about it, from the creature required to manufacture it, to the methods and materials used to do the same. There is no mystery, there is nothing unaccounted for. One need not invoke any other players, because all possible roles in this production have been cast.

If you feel rejected by god, then you are not an atheist.

5th- I've lots of personal experiences with atheists, especially here, with the same reactions listed as symptoms of rejection while exhibiting none of the same towards atheists, save the occasional frustration. It's not really worth my time to go and search through a few thousand posts for you to simply comae back with, personal experience isn't evidence, or some kind of no true Scotsman fallacy. Which still doesn't address the premise that some who claim to be atheists are atheists because they feel rejected by God or religion. The same as some who claim to be Christian continue with their religious beliefs ignorantly, while exhibiting none of the Biblical standards by which to tell if someone is a Christian (ie. fruits of the spirit, etc.). Not that I'm a perfect example by any means, we all have our flaws.
It wasn't even really a premise, just a perspective to stir the pot a little. I agree with FnM though, if you feel rejected from god, then you're feeling something from god, and at least have some recognition of his existence to be rejected from. Not a basis for atheist belief.

Can you show me an example of someone who does have "the fruits of the spirit"? How would we quantify this particular claim? Are you all agreed on exactly what those "fruits" are, and how they would express themselves?

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such
things there is no law." Galatians 5:2-23
If you want me to reference the original Koine I will do some research on the translation and get back with you, although it's fairly standard across the versions of the Bible. It's also a fairly standard life application in the majority of Christianity.
As far as an example, there are many Christians I know that do regularly exhibit these qualities. Now you say, where there are a lot of atheists you know that regularly exhibit those qualities.. blahblah doesn't make you Christian. It's just a litmus for proper Christian behavior from the Bible's standpoint. Feel free to throw it in a believer's face in the middle of any argument where you doubt their intent, including myself.
